Our Client

Our client is an established construction and utility infrastructure business operating across the North of England. With a long-standing reputation for exceptional customer service, the business continues to grow, contracting with some of the largest Utility and Infrastructure providers in the UK.

The 10-year plan will see the company double in size and, as such, there is a need to invest in their people, starting with a considerable focus on in-house Learning and Development initiatives, including the establishment of a specialist market-leading academy based in the North.

The Role

We are currently looking for Managing & Senior QS professionals for both the Civils and Utility side of the business.

  • Provide the necessary Contractual and Commercial expertise supporting the site teams and others alike from pre, through to post construction. Ensure that value is maximized, risks are mitigated, and cash flow is maintained.
  • Support the management of key strategy deliverables while ensuring compliance with all commercial procedures and reporting requirements.
  • Meet all procurement deliverables through effective supply chain communication management and analysis.
  • Work with various members of the team (commercial, operation, finance, support leads) to ensure reporting deadlines are achieved and that targets are met.
  • Take the lead role for the management, procurement, and implementation of subcontracts.
  • Liaise regularly with external stakeholders and clients to ensure best commercial outcomes are achieved on all projects through the correct application and administration of the contract.
  • Seek to develop other members of the team (trainee/assistant QS’s) by setting good examples to support and pass on your experience when and where possible.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
