About the Role
My client, a respected law firm, is seeking a detail-oriented Accountant with solid law firm experience and a deep understanding of SRA audits. They value financial rigor as much as they do a supportive, collaborative culture. They need an Accountant who can keep their financial operations running smoothly while navigating the unique compliance requirements of the legal sector, especially SRA audits.
Responsibilities
- Proven accounting experience within a law firm and good understanding of the nuances of legal finance, from client billing to trust account management.
- Strong familiarity with SRA audit processes and compliance standards. Confidently support audit preparations, organize financial documentation, and address audit-related queries.
- Solid accounting fundamentals. Proficiency in managing financial records, reconciling accounts, and preparing financial reports (Excel skills are a must, and experience with legal accounting software is a bonus).
- Detail-oriented and organized. Thrives on accuracy, especially when it comes to regulatory compliance and financial documentation.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with lawyers, office managers, and external auditors. Clear verbal and written communication is key.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
