Risk & Compliance Responsibilities

  • Regular review and implementation of the overall company risk management framework (policies, procedures, and methodologies), including annual planning and regular reviews of hedging activities.
  • Be responsible for the assessment of risks and implementation of appropriate limits for new activities and assess the materiality of gaps in the valuation and risk measurement of existing transactions.
  • Conduct regular review on the appropriateness of established limits, in light of current trading book strategies and monitor established limits and compliance to trading and control policies.
  • Identify, measure, manage, and monitor/report the risk within the commercial and trading activities.
  • Provide value-added analysis to Management and the trading function on sources of value, key risks, scenarios testing, etc.
  • Assist and coordinate the credit application request from Trading and Aviation Marketing.
  • Regular meeting with HQ to communicate and report counterparty risk issues, etc.
  • Product control including new business/product application, exchange listed futures, and cleared swap settlement, etc.
  • Operational risk management and enterprise risk management.
  • Prepare reports and ad hoc material in a timely manner and meet the specification and requirement.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with the HQ Legal & Compliance Department, coordinating all related matters and ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and compliance frameworks across the business.

Leadership and Management

  • Lead and manage the Risk & Compliance department, including people management, performance management, and capability development, as well as providing training and support to the team members.
  • Prepare department and other relevant reports for Management and the relevant stakeholders.
  • Be responsible for the development and execution of departmental and company policies and processes.
  • Ensure effective execution of departmental responsibilities and delivery of agreed objectives.
  • Undertake such other duties, tasks, or projects as may reasonably be assigned from time to time in line with the nature and seniority of the role.

Associate Company

  • Represent the Company in the supervisory board and shareholders' meetings of the associate company, vote on behalf of the Company, and report to GM/DGM (in charge) on material matters.
  • Review the meeting materials and business performance of the associate company, identify and report issues, and assist GM/DGM (in charge) in decision-makings.

Requirements

  1. Degree level education preferred in Business, Economics, Finance, or other quantitative disciplines, but not essential where candidates have strong relevant experience.
  2. Hands-on and solid experience in product control and market risk within oil trading companies or banks, deep knowledge about the mechanism of oil physical trading products, the relevant OTC derivatives, and ICE exchange traded products, etc.
  3. Fundamental knowledge of credit and operational risk, and familiarity with the credit enhancement tools and measures.
  4. Team management experience will be a plus.
  5. High IT proficiency to facilitate the quantification, measurement, and reporting of risks and exposures. Excellence in using Microsoft Excel/Word/PowerPoint. Programming skills in Python would be an advantage.
  6. Strong business acumen with excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  7. Solid understanding of the energy commodities trading industry and external markets, with hands-on experience in ETRM systems. Experience with the implementation of ETRM and experience in applying AI tools in automation of process or procedure is preferred.
  8. Mandarin speaking & writing skills is a must.
