This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to move beyond a traditional IT support position and develop broader infrastructure experience within a regulated financial services environment. Working closely with the IT Infrastructure Manager, you will provide Tier 2 support while taking an active role in maintaining the bank’s servers, virtualised platforms, networks, backup systems and disaster recovery arrangements.

About the Role

My client, a well-established international financial institution in London, is looking for a Mandarin Speaking Junior IT Infrastructure Engineer to join its in-house technology team. You will gain hands-on exposure to Windows Server, Active Directory, VMware, vSphere, network devices and infrastructure monitoring, as well as supporting business continuity, IT security and technology projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing Tier 2 technical support and resolving infrastructure, system and network issues
  • Maintaining Windows Server and desktop operating systems
  • Supporting Microsoft infrastructure, including Active Directory, Exchange, WSUS, RDS and DFS
  • Managing physical servers, virtual machines, storage and server room operations
  • Supporting VMware, vSphere, vCenter, ESXi and Citrix environments
  • Maintaining backup and recovery solutions, including Veeam, Backup Exec and LTO
  • Supporting firewalls, routers and HP, Cisco, Juniper or Huawei switches
  • Monitoring system capacity, performance, availability and network activity
  • Maintaining IT assets, hardware and software inventories, and configuration records
  • Supporting business continuity and disaster recovery planning and testing
  • Assisting with infrastructure security, user access and system permissions
  • Preparing IT procedures, operational manuals and management reports
  • Liaising with overseas Head Office and Data Centre teams
  • Providing IT guidance and training to employees

Key Requirements

  • At least three years’ experience in Tier 2 support, infrastructure support or systems administration
  • Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory and Microsoft infrastructure
  • Hands-on experience with VMware and virtualised environments
  • Experience with backup systems, server hardware and network troubleshooting
  • A practical understanding of firewalls, routers and network switches
  • Technically well-rounded, with the ability to independently manage VMware, network infrastructure, backup systems and disaster recovery
  • Strong documentation, troubleshooting and communication skills
  • Fluent written and spoken English and Mandarin
  • Banking or financial services experience would be highly desirable. Relevant certifications such as MCSA, MCSE, VCP, CCNA or CCNP would also be an advantage.
