I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Previous experience of MyLearning would be an advantage, but it isn’t required – full training will be provided.
Supporting learning across Sussex Partnership
The MyLearning Team supports colleagues across the organisation to access essential learning and development.
Working within the wider Education and Talent Management function, you’ll help make that experience as positive and accessible as possible – supporting people with system queries, maintaining accurate information and helping the team keep its administrative processes running smoothly.
Flexible part-time working
This is a 24-hour-per-week position. Ideally, the hours will be spread across five days, although there may be flexibility for the right candidate.
Your base will be Woodside Annexe in Hellingly, with home working currently available for part of the week. There may occasionally be a need to travel to other Trust sites, so some flexibility will be required.
For someone looking to build their experience in learning systems, administration and workforce development within the NHS, this is a brilliant opportunity to develop new skills while supporting colleagues right across the organisation.
