Role Description

The Manual Machinist role at Alpha Engineering Solutions Limited is a full-time, on-site position based in Talke Pits. The Manual Machinist will set up and operate the XYZ. Daily activities include:

  • Reading and interpreting technical drawings
  • Selecting appropriate tools and materials
  • Measuring and inspecting parts
  • Maintaining tight tolerances and quality standards

The role involves routine equipment checks, basic maintenance, and safe operation of machinery in accordance with company procedures and health and safety regulations. The Manual Machinist will collaborate with engineers and other team members to:

Qualifications

  • Strong manual machining skills
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and tolerance requirements
  • Competence in using measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other precision tools
  • Knowledge of safe workshop practices, machine guarding, and adherence to health and safety regulations
  • Experience working with materials commonly used in oil and gas, defense, or scientific industries is advantageous
  • Relevant vocational training or apprenticeship in machining, mechanical engineering, or a closely related discipline
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and commitment to producing high-quality work
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and communicate clearly with colleagues and supervisors
  • Flexibility to support varied machining tasks, meet production deadlines, and adapt to evolving customer requirements
