Position: Manufacturing Engineer
Job Summary
As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will play a key role in supporting the operational performance, delivery, and continuous improvement of Camlin's innovative technology products. Working closely with Engineering, Operations, and Supply Chain teams, you will drive manufacturing excellence through process improvements, lean initiatives, and the successful introduction of new products into production.
This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer who enjoys solving complex manufacturing challenges, improving efficiency, and working in a fast-paced environment supporting electro-mechanical products used by critical infrastructure customers worldwide.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Engineering, Production, and Supply Chain teams to improve product manufacturing and production efficiency.
- Drive best-in-class manufacturing practices across Health & Safety, Quality, and Operational performance.
- Support the introduction of new products into manufacturing, ensuring Design for Manufacture (DFM) principles are embedded from the outset.
- Lead Lean Manufacturing, flow optimization, and 3S/5S improvement initiatives across production.
- Develop and implement production layouts based on lean manufacturing principles.
- Drive productivity, quality, and cost-reduction projects within the manufacturing environment.
- Identify, design, and maintain production jigs, fixtures, tooling, and assembly aids.
- Investigate manufacturing issues and lead root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Support inventory reduction and waste minimization initiatives.
- Support TWI implementation (KATA, JI, SWARMS).
- Maintain manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, process documentation, and standards.
- Support operational excellence programmes and continuous improvement activities.
- Ensure production tooling, equipment, and calibration systems are maintained and fit for purpose.

Qualifications & Skills – Essential Criteria
- Degree qualified or HND/ HNC in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Experience working within a technical manufacturing, production, or engineering environment.
- Experience supporting electromechanical assembly and test processes.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) activities.
- Strong problem-solving skills with experience of root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
- Experience of working within Health & Safety requirements in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong communication, organisational, and stakeholder management skills.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications.

Desirable Criteria
- Experience within electronics, electrical, industrial technology, or electromechanical manufacturing environments.
- Experience leading Lean, Kaizen, 5S, or process improvement projects.
- Knowledge of Design for Manufacture (DFM) principles.
- Experience with NCR, CAPA, RCA, 8D, or similar problem-solving methodologies.
- Experience supporting inventory reduction, process optimisation, or production efficiency initiatives.
- Exposure to TWI, KATA, SWARMs, or operational excellence programmes.
- Experience developing manufacturing tooling, fixtures, and assembly aids.
- Understanding of production test equipment and calibration requirements.
