Job Description: Manufacturing Engineer at Wärtsilä Defence Solutions Limited
Wärtsilä Defence Solutions Limited (WDSL) delivers integrated shaft line systems, packages, and products for naval and commercial marine applications. Our solutions help customers improve lifecycle efficiency, reduce operational risk, and support environmentally sustainable operations.
We are looking for a Manufacturing Engineer in Havant, United Kingdom to join our team.
Position Description:
The ideal candidate will:
- Work within a dynamic team in a low volume, high precision environment.
- Be responsible for creating, improving, and maintaining manufacturing processes.
- Provide production support and problem-solve manufacturing issues.
- Support the Sub-Contract team with technical liaison.
- Be prepared to be flexible with working hours to suit the business needs.
- Work to tight deadlines to achieve on-time delivery targets.
- Possess strong problem-solving and good communication skills.
Responsibilities:
- Drive improvements as part of a continuous improvement culture.
- Work in a safe manner in line with the company's Health and Safety policy.
- Ensure quality is maintained and processes are correctly implemented to company standards.
- Have a flexible approach and at times move onto other disciplines within skill set.
- Help with skills flex training and cross-train others when required.

Essential Experience:
- Experience of working in a busy Engineering environment.
- Previous experience of working with super alloys, castings, and composites is an advantage.
- Ideally, an Apprentice served with machinist experience background.
- Able to read engineering drawings and understand tolerance requirements.
- Strong modern tooling knowledge.
- Familiar with modern machining methods.
- Work holding/fixture design experience.
- CAD/CAM experience is desirable.
- New machine tool implementation.
- Solid Edge or similar CAD system experience.
- Computer Literate (Microsoft).
- SAP experience is an advantage.
- Understand Health & Safety environment/procedures.
Education:

- Apprenticeship/machinist background.
- HNC/HND is desired, but relevant experience will also be considered.
Experience:
- 5 years (min) Engineering experience within the manufacturing industry.
- CI experience (6 Sigma methodologies).
