We are recruiting an experienced Manufacturing Engineer for a well-established precision engineering business supplying complex components to demanding industries, including energy and oil and gas.
Continued growth and investment in manufacturing capabilities have created an opportunity for an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join the team.
This role requires someone who has previously worked as a Manufacturing Engineer within a CNC machining or precision engineering environment. Experience manufacturing parts for the oil and gas industry would be particularly valuable, although candidates from other high-precision industries will also be considered.
The Role
You will be responsible for developing, introducing, and improving the manufacturing processes used to produce complex CNC machined components.
Working closely with Production and Quality, you will take new components from the engineering drawing or 3D model through to a reliable and efficient production process. This will include creating offline CNC programs, selecting tooling and workholding, developing machining methods, and producing clear instructions for machine operators.
You will also support existing production, resolve manufacturing and quality problems, and identify opportunities to improve productivity, quality, and cost efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce offline CNC programs for multi-axis milling and turning machines using CAM software.
- Develop manufacturing methods for new and existing components.
- Review engineering drawings, 3D models, and customer specifications.
- Select and optimise tooling, workholding, machining strategies, feeds, and speeds.
- Produce manufacturing work packs and detailed operator instructions.
- Manage the introduction of new components through the machine shop.
- Support Production in achieving monthly manufacturing schedules.
- Investigate machining problems and non-conformances.
- Carry out root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventative actions.
- Improve existing manufacturing processes to reduce machining time, waste, and production costs.
- Work closely with Production, Engineering, and Quality teams.
- Ensure manufacturing processes comply with ISO 9001 standards and internal procedures.
- Support machine maintenance planning and coordinate additional maintenance where required.

About You
You must have previous experience working as a Manufacturing Engineer, ideally within a subcontract precision engineering, CNC machining, energy, or oil and gas environment.
You should have strong offline CNC programming experience using CAM software. Mastercam experience would be useful, but training can be provided to someone with experience using another suitable CAM system.
You will also need experience of multi-axis CNC machining, including milling and turning. Knowledge of 3-Axis, 3+2-Axis, and 5-Axis machining is required, together with a sound understanding of tooling, workholding, and machining methods.
Experience using Fanuc and Haas CNC controls would be particularly relevant.
The successful candidate will be comfortable interpreting engineering drawings, 3D models, and customer specifications and turning this information into a practical manufacturing process that can be followed by machine operators.

Experience machining exotic or difficult materials would be an advantage, particularly materials used for components within the energy or oil and gas industries.
Essential Experience
- Previous experience working as a Manufacturing Engineer.
- Experience within a CNC machining or precision engineering environment.
- Offline CNC programming using CAM software.
- Multi-axis CNC milling and turning.
- Understanding of 3-Axis, 3+2-Axis, and 5-Axis machining.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, 3D models, and specifications.
- Strong knowledge of tooling, workholding, and machining processes.
- Experience investigating manufacturing or quality problems.
- Root cause analysis and practical problem-solving experience.
Desirable Experience
- Manufacturing parts for the oil and gas or energy industries.
- Working with exotic or difficult materials.
- Mastercam.
- Fanuc and Haas CNC controls.
- SolidWorks.
- ERP systems.
- ISO 9001 manufacturing environments.
- An HNC, HND, or equivalent engineering qualification.
