Position: CAM Programmer

Type: Contract
Compensation: $25 - $50/hour
Location: Remote
Commitment: 10-40 hrs/week

Role Responsibilities

  • Develop precision CAM toolpaths in Autodesk Fusion 360 for 3, 4, and 5-axis CNC machining operations.
  • Program complex milling and turning geometries across metals and plastics, optimizing for material, tolerance, and machine capabilities.
  • Simulate and verify toolpaths to identify and resolve potential issues such as collisions, gouging, and inefficient cycle times.
  • Configure, tune, and document post-processors for various CNC machines (e.g., Haas, Makera).
  • Create detailed setup sheets, tool lists, and strategy documentation for downstream manufacturing professionals.
  • Author clear, instructional content, walkthroughs, or written guidance on CAM programming techniques and best practices.
  • Incorporate feedback from first-part results and inspection reports to iterate and refine CAM outputs.

Requirements

  • Have strong relevant experience in the domain with hands-on CAM programming experience.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Fusion 360 with a portfolio or sample work highlighting multi-axis programming and toolpath strategy.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T, DFM principles, and post-processor configuration.
  • Expertise programming for advanced CNC environments, including experience with a range of materials (aluminum, stainless, titanium, plastics).
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Experience creating or delivering CAM training content (formal courses, tutorials, mentoring, or online instructional materials preferred).
