Manufacturing / Production Engineer – CNC

Location: Cirencester, Gloucestershire
Salary: £35,000 – £45,000 + Shift Allowance
Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent
Working Pattern: Shift-based

The Opportunity

We are working with a highly regulated manufacturing company that is looking to appoint an experienced Manufacturing / Production Engineer to join their growing engineering and manufacturing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong engineer with a CNC manufacturing background who enjoys being hands-on, solving production challenges and improving the way manufacturing processes operate. You will be a key Subject Matter Expert (SME) for CNC manufacturing, taking ownership of the systems, processes and procedures surrounding CNC machining and supporting the wider manufacturing operation to consistently deliver high-quality products.

Working within a highly regulated environment, you will play an important role in ensuring that manufacturing processes are robust, repeatable, efficient and compliant with the required quality and regulatory standards.

The Role

As the Manufacturing / Production Engineer, you will work closely with production, quality, engineering and other operational teams to ensure CNC manufacturing processes are performing effectively. You will be responsible for understanding the detail behind the manufacturing process — identifying issues, investigating root causes and implementing practical improvements that increase efficiency, quality and reliability. The role will involve a strong combination of technical engineering, process improvement, CNC expertise and shop-floor support.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Acting as the CNC Subject Matter Expert across the manufacturing operation.
  • Supporting and improving CNC machining processes, systems and procedures.
  • Reviewing existing manufacturing processes and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Troubleshooting CNC-related production issues and providing technical support to operators and production teams.
  • Working with production teams to improve process efficiency, repeatability and output.
  • Developing, reviewing and maintaining manufacturing procedures, work instructions and process documentation.
  • Supporting the introduction of new products and processes into manufacturing.
  • Investigating production issues and carrying out root cause analysis.
  • Implementing corrective and preventative actions where required.
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives across CNC manufacturing.
  • Working closely with Quality to ensure manufacturing processes meet required quality and regulatory standards.
  • Ensuring processes are appropriately documented, controlled and followed.
  • Reviewing tooling, machining methods, fixtures and process parameters where appropriate.
  • Supporting process validation and qualification activities.
  • Analysing manufacturing data and identifying trends, inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement.
  • Supporting engineering changes and ensuring manufacturing processes are updated accordingly.
  • Providing technical guidance and mentoring to production and CNC operators.
  • Working closely with internal engineering, manufacturing, quality and operations teams.
  • Supporting investigations into non-conformances and production failures.
  • Ensuring manufacturing processes remain robust, controlled and capable of consistently producing conforming product.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
