Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer | FMCG Manufacturing | £50,000–£52,670 | Harrogate

Are you a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer looking for a modern, high-speed production environment and a clear route to develop your career?

We’re recruiting several Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineers to support a highly automated, 24/7 FMCG manufacturing operation in Harrogate. The opportunities are suitable for genuinely multi-skilled engineers as well as candidates with a stronger electrical or mechanical bias.

Shift Pattern

  • 12-hour Panama shift pattern covering days and nights: 7.00am–7.00pm and 7.00pm–7.00am
  • Week 1 – Mon, Tues, Fri, Sat, Sun
  • Week 2 – Wed, Thurs
  • The two-week rotation provides regular extended breaks and alternate weekends off

The Role

You’ll help keep a highly automated, 24/7 production facility operating safely and reliably. Working within an experienced engineering team, you’ll deliver planned and reactive maintenance, diagnose complex faults and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that increase equipment reliability, efficiency and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance across high-speed automated production lines, predominantly featuring Krones equipment.
  • Diagnose electrical and mechanical faults using a structured approach.
  • Support continuous improvement projects to improve equipment reliability and efficiency.
  • Conduct Root Cause Analysis on recurring equipment failures.
  • Maintain engineering documentation and ensure compliance with Health & Safety and food manufacturing standards.
  • Work collaboratively with Production to minimise downtime.

About You:

We welcome applications from multi-skilled engineers and from candidates with a stronger electrical or mechanical bias. You’ll need proven maintenance experience within a manufacturing or production environment, strong fault-finding ability and the motivation to develop while contributing to a growing operation.

You’ll be confident diagnosing both electrical and mechanical faults on automated production machinery and comfortable working methodically under production pressure. Experience with PLC fault-finding, automated process control or servo systems would be highly advantageous.

What You'll need:

  • Electrical and mechanical fault finding, servicing, and repairs
  • Proven maintenance experience within a manufacturing or production environment; FMCG, food or beverage experience would be advantageous.
  • Experience fault-finding on PLC-controlled machinery; exposure to Siemens or Allen-Bradley systems would be advantageous.
  • Inverter & Controller replacement experience
  • A recognised engineering qualification, such as City & Guilds, NVQ, HNC or an equivalent electrical or mechanical qualification.
  • Knowledge of site services: Compressors, steam boilers, water treatment, electrical distribution
  • Experience working with Krones machinery is highly advantageous
