Manufacturing Engineer
Start Date: November 2026
Location: Romsey Onsite 5 days per week
Duration: 6 months
Day Rate: £380 per day to the agency
IR35: Inside IR35
Clearance: The role can start under BPSS. SC clearance is highly preferred, and candidates who do not currently hold SC must be eligible and willing to obtain it.
The Role
We are looking for an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join a technology-focused manufacturing environment, driving improvements across production processes, quality, cost and delivery performance.
The role will focus on Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement and problem solving, working closely with Production, Engineering, Supply Chain and wider business teams to identify opportunities, resolve issues and deliver measurable improvements.
You will play a key role in improving manufacturing processes and supporting the successful assembly and testing of electronic and electro-mechanical products. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Manufacturing Engineer who enjoys solving complex problems, leading change and delivering practical improvements within a fast-paced engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive the optimisation of key manufacturing and supporting processes to improve productivity, reduce cost, shorten lead times and enhance quality.
- Lead structured problem-solving activities using methodologies such as PSP, 8D, Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and DMAIC.
- Identify, lead and facilitate Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement (CI) projects, providing clear communication and updates on progress, risks and outcomes.
- Identify and escalate risks, issues and opportunities relating to processes and delivery, working with project teams, business leaders and sponsors to implement effective solutions.
- Promote a strong culture of Continuous Improvement, identifying opportunities to improve CI processes, frameworks and ways of working across the organisation.
- Implement and maintain PFMEA, 5S and Asset Care programmes across operational processes.
- Support Supply Chain improvement initiatives and contribute to wider operational efficiency programmes.
- Provide technical support to Production across the assembly and testing of electronic and hardware products.
- Troubleshoot manufacturing and product issues, identifying root causes and implementing sustainable solutions.
- Support the investigation and resolution of product non-conformances, including root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to deliver significant manufacturing and process improvements.

Education & Qualifications
- Degree qualified in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics Engineering or a relevant engineering discipline.
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt qualification.
- Strong computer literacy and confidence using engineering and business systems.
Skills & Experience
We're particularly interested in candidates with:
- Demonstrable experience in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma and Continuous Improvement methodologies.
- Proven experience leading change initiatives and improvement projects.
- Detailed knowledge of electronic and mechanical assembly and testing principles.
- Previous experience working within an electro-mechanical manufacturing or assembly environment.
- Experience using both automated and manual measurement techniques across a range of test equipment.
- Proven experience troubleshooting product and manufacturing non-conformances.
- Strong practical experience using structured problem-solving techniques, including PSP, 8D, RCA and DMAIC.
- Experience working with MRP systems; knowledge of IFS would be advantageous.
- Experience working across cross-functional teams and collaborating with stakeholders throughout a business.
- A proven track record of delivering projects that drive significant operational, manufacturing and process improvements.
- Excellent communication, collaboration and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to translate engineering requirements into practical manufacturing solutions.

- A practical problem solver who enjoys getting to the root cause of issues and implementing sustainable improvements.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for a hands-on Manufacturing Engineer with a strong Continuous Improvement mindset and proven experience in an electro-mechanical manufacturing environment.
You should be confident leading structured problem-solving activities, working across functional boundaries and turning improvement opportunities into measurable results. A strong Lean Six Sigma background, combined with practical experience of electronics/mechanical assembly and testing, will be particularly valuable in this role.
