Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer
Location: Great Yarmouth
Department: Engineering
Reports To: Engineering Team Leader, Production Engineering
About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Manufacturing Engineer to join our team within a fast-paced microelectronics manufacturing environment. As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will provide hands-on engineering support to the shop floor, ensuring safe, efficient, and repeatable manufacturing processes. You will take ownership of day-to-day manufacturing engineering activities, resolving production issues, maintaining process documentation, and driving continuous improvement. A key part of the role is supporting New Product Introduction (NPI), ensuring products are effectively transitioned from development into stable, manufacturable production processes. This role focuses on solving material and integration challenges associated with hybrid microelectronic packaging and advanced electronic assemblies, ensuring robust, scalable, and high-reliability manufacturing solutions.
The role will be heavily shop floor focused, requiring strong problem-solving capability, responsiveness, and close collaboration with operators, quality, and cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day manufacturing engineering support to production, resolving issues in real time to minimise disruption.
- Own and maintain manufacturing processes to ensure they are robust, repeatable, and efficient.
- Develop, write, and maintain manufacturing documentation including:
- Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Work instructions
- Process specifications
- Bills of Materials (BOMs)
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities, including:
- Translating design intent into manufacturable processes
- Supporting builds, trials, and process prove-out
- Ensuring smooth transition from development into production
- Work closely with Design, Process Engineering, and Quality to resolve manufacturability and production challenges.
- Identify and implement process improvements to improve yield, reduce waste, and increase efficiency.
- Investigate and resolve non-conformances, driving root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Support production with training and guidance on new and updated processes.
- Manage and prioritise multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment with frequent changing demands.
- Engage with suppliers where required to support materials and process issues.
- Ensure compliance with relevant quality and industry standards.
Education / Qualifications
Essential:
- Engineering discipline qualification or demonstrable equivalent industry experience (Essential), Electronics.
- Proven experience in manufacturing engineering within a production environment.
- Strong hands-on experience supporting shop floor operations.
- Experience with process documentation and SOP creation.
- Demonstrable problem-solving experience in a manufacturing setting.
- Understanding of manufacturing materials and processes.
- Experience in high-reliability industries (e.g., aerospace, semiconductor, microelectronics or similar).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems.

Desirable:
- Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI).
- Experience in microelectronics assembly or similar high-precision manufacturing.
- Experience delivering operator training.
- Exposure to process improvement methodologies (e.g. Lean, Six Sigma).
- Familiarity with:
- Cleanroom environments
- High-reliability electronic manufacturing
- Electronic test processes
- Industry quality standards (e.g., ISO, AS9100).

Other Requirements
- Security Clearance (SC) or ability to obtain.
- Willingness to travel as required (e.g., other company sites, suppliers, customers).
