At our GKN Filton site, we specialise in the design and manufacture of large complex structural wing assemblies, detailed metallic components and wing systems for a combination of both civil and military aircraft.
We are seeking Manufacturing Engineers to join our Aerospace Business - where we undertake the manufacture of Metallic Aircraft components using a range of processes such as machining, Fabrication, Sub assembly and assembly of large complex structures.
The new Manufacturing Engineers will possess specific skills in production and planning and configuration control and will provide engineering capability to operational programmes, enabling and delivering zero defect projects utilizing engineering and problem-solving skills. You will be accountable for delivering robust, capable manufacturing process. The successful applicants will work a 4.5-day week, including flexitime in a full-time permanent capacity, equating to a 35 hour week as part of a small team of Manufacturing Engineers.How You'll Contribute In this role, you will:
Be responsible for the implementation of materials & process methods and solutions, from original concept through to production Have strong project management skills and manage larger complex, or multiple smaller projects/mods from programme or customer approval through introduction to production and delivery to customer and validate all customer expectations and all stakeholder relationships Deploy these processes with a high degree of process capability utilizing the GKN standard Zero Defect Manufacturing (ZDM) tool suite to demonstrate as such Confer with inter-departmental personnel to implement Internal and external change request, resolve system errors, and provide technical feedback to customer Be responsible for technical support of manufacturing development and integration for production. Resolve issues pertaining to vendor quality Create a Change implementation plan for every Change being embodied to track progress, ensuring mods are delivered on customer agreed POE, within scope and within agreed costs Provide specialist knowledge to production activities with the ultimate goal of improving efficiency, product quality and the reduction of non-conforming parts Exemplify a safety-first mind-set and ensuring compliance with the GKN Aerospace Health, Safety and Environmental policies and standards Be responsible for the development of technical solutions to complex problems within GKN Aerospace, our customers and suppliers Deliver technical support of manufacturing process development and integration for production Utilize root cause analysis, preventative and corrective action to reduce/eliminate non-conformances Maintain positive, team relationships with internal and external customers, as well as co-workers Continuously improve production processes by implementing Lean initiatives What You'll Bring To help us make a difference, you’ll bring your passion and expertise/ talent for what you do along with the following skills, experience, qualifications and attributes:

Essential:
HNC/HND in Manufacturing Engineering or relevant experience in a manufacturing engineering environment Ability to read and understand engineering manufacturing drawings and technical documents Experience using IT packages such as MS Office Must be flexible and able to handle multiple and changing priorities
Desirable:
Knowledge of, and ability to use and implement LEAN tools and techniques Experience using SAP or similar business software CMII Qualified BSc in Engineering Prince2 or equivalent Project Management qualification
