Job Description

Job Title: Manufacturing Engineering IT SME

Location: Derby, UK

Workday Pattern: Hybrid – minimum 3 days on site per week

Position Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Manufacturing Engineering IT SME to join the team in Derby.

As the Manufacturing Engineering (ME) IT SME for Rolls-Royce, you’ll be an integral part of the Engineering Solutions IT team. Your strong knowledge of manufacturing engineering systems and processes will enable you to lead and develop complex solutions to deliver the capability required by the business operations teams. This role will be instrumental in the development and deployment of the next generation of CAM solutions, integrations with the shop floor systems and PLM.

What you will be doing:

  • Provide a deep understanding of ME IT systems and solutions within the Engineering Solution Delivery Team
  • Troubleshoot and debug solution components
  • Work with the system vendors to develop new solutions, in line with business requirements, across a varying project board
  • Translate business requirements into functional solutions within the constraints of the enterprise architecture and systems level design
  • Develop a detailed appreciation of an industry / Solution family and its business requirements and interfaces with the ME community
  • Advise on trends relevant to a particular business process or Solution
  • Able to travel domestically and internationally up to 10%

Position Qualifications:

For this role you will need to demonstrate understanding of the applicable health and safety standards and we are looking for someone who is/has

  • Relevant degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience in Manufacturing Engineering systems capability & processes (such as Siemens Teamcenter, NX, SAP and Simatic)
  • Able to resolve complex problems using acquired technical experience and knowledge
  • Able to understand the current business processes and work within a team to design a new solution to improve user experience or upgrade to later technologies
  • Recognize alternative approaches for reaching a solution and implement most appropriate course of action
  • Able to absorb technical information and communicate effectively at all levels to both technical and non-technical audiences
