Group Leader - Work Surfaces Manufacturing Site

Howdens are recruiting a Group Leader to join our work surfaces manufacturing site in Holme on Spalding Moor, East Yorkshire. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting our continued growth, leading a high-performing team, and helping us deliver outstanding service to our customers.

Location | Holme on Spalding Moor

Contract Type | Permanent

Shift Pattern | Monday to Friday | Week One: 05:45-14:00, Week Two: 13:45-22:00 (40 hours per week)

Reporting To | Operations Manager

What you will be doing as a Group Leader:

  • Leading and developing your team to achieve safety, quality, service, and productivity targets
  • Monitoring team performance and providing effective feedback, support, and training
  • Planning daily production activity to ensure customer demand is met
  • Maintaining high standards of health and safety through audits, SOP reviews, risk assessments, and accident or near-miss investigations
  • Analysing KPI and OEE data to identify opportunities for improvement and drive performance
  • Working closely with maintenance teams to minimise downtime and maximise machine efficiency
  • Driving engagement and accountability to create a positive, high-performing team culture

What do you need to qualify for the Group Leader role:

  • Experience working within a leadership role ideally in a manufacturing environment
  • A proven track record of implementing continuous improvement processes and working knowledge of lean manufacturing processes
  • Experience managing KPI and quality control plans
  • Experience of applying health and safety procedures within a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Excellent problem-solving, influencing, and decision-making skills
  • The ability to lead change, motivate others, and drive results through people
