Manufacturing Machine Cell Team Leader / Manufacturing Team Leader / Production Team Leader / Leading Hand

Bridgwater | £28,000-£29,500 per annum + Bonus | Monday-Friday | Day Shift | Permanent

Introduction

Acorn by Synergie is recruiting for an experienced Manufacturing Machine Cell Team Leader to join a successful manufacturing business.

Reporting to the Production Controller, the role of Leading Hand is a supportive leadership position, working closely with supervisors and the wider manufacturing team to ensure production processes, procedures, and standards are consistently followed.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Manufacturing Team Leader, Production Team Leader, Cell Leader, Leading Hand, or Senior Manufacturing Operative looking to take the next step in their career within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

The successful candidate will play a key role in producing hand-crafted components to customer expectations while supporting the team in achieving key business objectives across Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost.

What We Offer

  • Support the Production Controller and wider team with daily manufacturing operations.
  • Act as a point of contact and advisor for team members regarding processes, procedures, and workplace standards.
  • Ensure agreed procedures, instructions, and SOPs are followed consistently.
  • Resolve minor production issues and escalate more complex problems to supervisors or managers.
  • Produce hand-crafted components to meet customer requirements and quality expectations.
  • Promote and maintain high standards of safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Ensure employees follow factory rules, safety procedures, and operational standards.
  • Monitor timekeeping, breaks, and productivity to ensure efficient production.
  • Report machine issues and maintenance requirements promptly.
  • Ensure defective machinery is locked out and reported correctly.
  • Support the team to achieve required quality standards.
  • Ensure manufacturing orders are completed in line with delivery targets and priorities.
  • Use work-to-lists to manage priorities, volumes, and due dates.
  • Highlight any issues that may impact on-time delivery (OTD).
  • Provide team feedback and support employee development discussions.

Requirements

  • Previous experience within a manufacturing, production, or engineering environment.
  • Experience in a leadership, team leader, leading hand, or supervisory role is desirable.
  • Strong people management and leadership skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with shop floor teams.
  • Confident decision-maker with the ability to solve problems independently.
  • Strong organisational and planning skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously.
  • Reliable and able to manage responsibilities effectively.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Excel and manufacturing systems.
  • Calm under pressure with a positive and respectful approach.
  • Flexible attitude with a willingness to learn and develop.
