We have an exciting opportunity for an inspirational Manufacturing Manager to join our RF Power business. This role is critical in driving operational performance, developing manufacturing capability and leading a culture of continuous improvement as we continue to grow across Healthcare, Industrial and Defence markets.

Main Accountabilities

The Manufacturing Manager is responsible for leading all manufacturing activities within their area of responsibility, ensuring the safe, efficient and effective delivery of products to the highest standards of quality, cost and delivery performance.

The role leads a team of Manufacturing Team Leaders and manufacturing personnel, driving operational excellence whilst developing the capability, flexibility and engagement of the manufacturing workforce.

Leadership & People Development

  • Lead, coach and develop a team of Manufacturing Team Leaders to create a high-performing, engaged and accountable manufacturing organisation.
  • Build succession plans, develop future talent and ensure appropriate training and competency frameworks are in place to support current and future business requirements.
  • Drive a culture of ownership, teamwork, continuous improvement, customer focus and effective communication.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews, career development discussions and skills assessments.
  • Foster an inclusive, collaborative and high-performance working environment.

Manufacturing Operations & Delivery

  • Deliver manufacturing output safely, on time, to cost and in accordance with quality requirements.
  • Lead and support Manufacturing Team Leaders to achieve Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and Productivity objectives.
  • Effectively plan and allocate manufacturing resources, skills, facilities and equipment to meet current and future demand requirements.
  • Manage manufacturing constraints and risks, implementing recovery plans and mitigation actions where required.
  • Optimise workforce deployment, manufacturing flow and layouts to improve efficiency, flexibility and responsiveness.
  • Work collaboratively with Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality and Programme teams to ensure customer requirements are translated into effective operational delivery plans.

Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement

  • Develop, monitor and improve key operational KPIs including Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, Productivity and Inventory.
  • Promote and embed Visual Management, 5S and Continuous Improvement principles across manufacturing operations.
  • Drive structured problem-solving and root cause analysis to improve operational performance and product quality.
  • Establish, maintain and continuously improve standard work, manufacturing processes and best practice documentation.
  • Lead automation, digitalisation and productivity improvement initiatives to support business growth and competitiveness.

Manufacturing Capability & Strategic Development

  • Support the development and execution of manufacturing strategies aligned with business growth objectives.
  • Identify future manufacturing capability requirements and develop plans to support capacity, technology and skills growth.
  • Work with Engineering and Equipment teams to develop manufacturing technologies, automation opportunities and future capability roadmaps.
  • Support capital investment planning and ensure effective utilisation of manufacturing assets.
  • Lead manufacturing readiness activities for new products, technology transfers and future business opportunities.

Quality, Compliance & Financial Management

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, customer requirements, regulatory standards and the applicable Quality Management System.
  • Drive a culture of right-first-time manufacturing, defect prevention and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure timely closure of audit findings, corrective actions and compliance actions.
  • Support the development and management of manufacturing budgets, CAPEX planning and cost reduction initiatives.
  • Ensure resources are utilised effectively to maximise operational performance and return on investment.

Health, Safety & Environment

  • Lead by example in promoting a proactive and positive safety culture throughout manufacturing operations.
  • Ensure compliance with all Health, Safety and Environmental policies, procedures and legal requirements.
  • Drive the identification and reduction of workplace risks through effective risk assessment and corrective actions.
  • Champion the reporting, investigation and resolution of accidents, incidents, hazards and near misses.
  • Ensure all manufacturing activities are conducted in a safe, compliant and environmentally responsible manner.

Essential Experience & Skills

  • Demonstrable experience of leading manufacturing teams within a complex manufacturing environment.
  • Proven track record of delivering improvements in safety, quality, delivery, cost and productivity.
  • Strong leadership, coaching and people development skills.
  • Experience of Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement and Operational Excellence methodologies.
  • Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis capability supported by data-driven decision making.
  • Experience of managing manufacturing resources and capacity planning activities.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, industrialisation and production planning.
  • Ability to influence and collaborate effectively across multiple business functions.
  • Strong understanding of quality management systems and manufacturing compliance requirements.
  • Experience working within high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environments producing highly engineered products.
  • Financial awareness including budgetary responsibility, cost management and productivity improvement.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management and change leadership skills.
  • ERP system experience (SAP S/4HANA desirable).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and data analysis tools.
  • Degree or equivalent experience in Manufacturing, Engineering, Operations Management or a related discipline would be advantageous.
