🚀 Manufacturing Manager | Electronics & Scientific Instrumentation | Rochester
Are you an experienced Manufacturing Manager or Senior Manufacturing Engineer with a strong background in electronic manufacturing?
I’m supporting an established, internationally focused science and manufacturing SME that is entering an exciting period of growth — and they’re looking for a hands-on manufacturing leader to play a key role in shaping the next phase of the business.
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you’ll have significant influence across the organisation, with responsibility for:
- Manufacturing & production
- Production and capacity planning
- Supply chain, purchasing & supplier management
- Quality & incoming goods inspection
- NPI and engineering-to-manufacturing transfer
- Lean manufacturing & continuous improvement
- ERP/MRP & operational reporting
- Team leadership, development & workforce planning
The business designs and manufactures precision scientific instrumentation, with a technically capable operation spanning low-volume electronic assembly, cable/wiring and box-build assembly, clean room operations and product testing.

🔍 What are they looking for?
You’ll ideally have:
- Strong experience in electronic manufacturing and assembly (Ideally PCBA or equivalent)
- Proven leadership experience within manufacturing, production or operations
- Experience in high-mix, low-volume or technically complex manufacturing
- Knowledge of electronic component purchasing and supplier management
- Experience across production planning and supply chain
- A track record in Lean / Six Sigma / continuous improvement
- Experience with NPI and manufacturing scale-up
- Ideally, exposure to ISO-regulated environments
Experience with ISO 9001/13485, box-build, ERP/MRP systems, metrology, scientific instrumentation, medical devices or precision engineering would be advantageous.
Most importantly, this is a hands-on leadership role. You’ll be expected to work closely with the team, provide technical guidance, solve problems and drive improvements in quality, productivity, efficiency and delivery.
💼 What’s on offer?

- 37.5 hours per week, Monday–Friday
- 33 days’ holiday including bank/public holidays

📍 Location: Rochester, Kent
This is a particularly interesting opportunity for someone who wants real ownership and influence, rather than simply managing an established production function. You’ll have the opportunity to develop the team, improve processes, increase manufacturing capability and help shape the operational strategy as the business grows.
