Job Description
Job Summary
We are seeking a talented and motivated Manufacturing Operations & NPI Engineer to join our Operations Team responsible for supporting the introduction of new products into manufacturing while ensuring efficient production processes, high product quality, and continuous operational improvement.
The successful candidate will possess strong production engineering expertise combined with experience in NPI processes, supplier quality management, quality engineering techniques, and proficiency in SolidWorks CAD software.
You will be part of a new team within the business bridging our Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain functions to deliver robust, cost-effective manufacturing solutions.
Key Responsibilities
New Product Introduction (NPI)
- Lead manufacturing readiness activities for new product introduction.
- Develop and implement manufacturing processes, work instructions, and standard operating procedures.
- Participate in Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA) reviews.
- Support prototype, pilot, and production builds.
- Manage process validation and production qualification activities.
- Work closely with Engineering to ensure smooth transfer from design to manufacture.

Manufacturing & Production Engineering
- Design, develop, and optimize manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, quality, and throughput.
- Investigate production issues and implement corrective actions.
- Develop tooling, fixtures, and assembly aids to support manufacturing operations.
- Monitor production performance using KPIs and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Apply Lean Manufacturing methodologies to eliminate waste and improve productivity.
Quality Engineering
- Ensure compliance with applicable quality management systems and customer requirements.
- Develop and maintain quality control plans and test/inspection procedures within Manufacturing and Goods-Inwards.
- Perform root cause investigations using tools such as 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone, and FMEA.
- Drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Analyse quality data and implement improvement initiatives.
- Support internal and external audits.
Supplier Quality
- Manage supplier non-conformances and corrective actions.
- Support supplier development activities to improve quality and delivery performance.
- Collaborate with Procurement and Supply Chain teams to resolve quality-related supplier issues.
- Review and approve PPAPs, FAI reports, and supplier quality documentation where applicable.
- Assist with evaluation of new suppliers from a quality perspective.
- Assist with supplier audits and performance reviews.
CAD & Product Support
- Understand 3D CAD models, assemblies, and engineering drawings using SolidWorks.
- Support engineering change management processes.
- Develop manufacturing drawings and production documentation.
- Liaise with Design Engineers on product improvements and manufacturability enhancements.

Basic Requirements
Required Qualifications/Experience
- Degree or equivalent experience in:
- Mechanical Engineering
- Manufacturing Engineering
- Production Engineering
- Industrial Engineering
- 5+ years' experience in a Manufacturing, Production Engineering, or NPI Engineering role.
- Experience supporting product development through to production launch.
- Experience in supplier quality management and supplier development.
- Quality engineering experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with root cause analysis and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience developing manufacturing processes and production documentation.
- Working knowledge of SolidWorks.
- Implementation and working to ISO9001/AS9100 standards/processes

- Supporting E&HS procedures in Manufacturing environments
- Supporting Internal Audit programs
- Previous involvement in ERP/PLM implementations and/or data migration projects is a plus.
