Manufacturing Engineer

Up to £65,000 per annum

EMBS Engineering are recruiting for a Manufacturing Engineer to join a precision engineering and advanced manufacturing business. This is a hands-on engineering role, providing leadership and support to a manufacturing value stream to sustain and improve safety, quality, delivery and cost (SQCDP) through practical engineering solutions. The role covers continuous improvement, reverse engineering, capital project delivery and new product introduction, working closely with cross-functional teams to reduce scrap, improve process capability and support commercial growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review daily, monthly and annual performance metrics with the Value Stream Manager, recommending improvements to machinery, tooling and production methods to raise process capability.
  • Lead cross-functional investigations into safety and quality issues, identifying root cause and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
  • Manage capital expenditure projects from quotation through to qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ), including input to annual budgeting and emergency capital requests.
  • Produce documentation to support automated processes and the introduction of new or improved products and equipment, working with engineering and automation teams.
  • Lead initiatives to strengthen preventative maintenance and reduce the risk of unplanned downtime on critical equipment.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of customer and industry technical requirements, working across local and global operations.

  • Champion compliance with safety and quality standards, acting as a role model for SQCDP behaviours.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
