Role Overview
We are looking for a Manufacturing / Process Engineer to join our production team and help improve the way we manufacture our products.
This is a hands-on role, working closely with the production team to introduce better processes, improve efficiency and reduce scrap and waste.
We have a good opportunity to develop and improve our existing manufacturing processes and are looking for someone who can bring structure, organisation and a practical approach to continuous improvement.
The role would suit an engineer who is looking to take the next step in their career and have a genuine impact within a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and introduce production packs and work instructions for our manufacturing jobs.
- Document existing processes and establish clear and consistent ways of working.
- Work with production staff to improve machine set-up and process consistency.
- Help establish standard cycle times, output expectations and quality checks.
- Monitor production performance, scrap and downtime.
- Investigate production problems and identify their root causes.
- Work with operators to reduce recurring quality issues and waste.
- Introduce better methods of recording and reporting scrap.
- Identify opportunities to improve productivity and machine utilisation.
- Support the introduction of improved shop-floor organisation and accountability.
- Work with the Operations Manager and production team to implement process improvements.
- Monitor improvements and ensure they are maintained.

Quality & Process Improvement
The role will have a strong focus on improving quality at the point of manufacture.
This Will Include
- Improving first-off and in-process checks.
- Ensuring operators have the information they need to manufacture jobs correctly.
- Identifying the causes of defects rather than simply dealing with the resulting scrap.
- Helping develop a culture where quality is the responsibility of everyone involved in production.
- Supporting corrective actions when manufacturing issues occur.
The Person
We are looking for someone who is practical, organised and enjoys solving problems.
You don’t need to have 20 years’ experience. We are more interested in finding someone with the right attitude, technical understanding and potential to develop within the business.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or process engineering environment.
- A good understanding of manufacturing processes.
- Experience of improving processes or solving production problems.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to work comfortably with both management and shop-floor personnel.
- Good attention to detail and organisational skills.
- A practical, hands-on approach.
- The confidence to challenge inefficient ways of working and suggest improvements.

Desirable Experience
- Experience within plastics manufacturing, injection moulding, extrusion, thermoforming or a similar manufacturing environment would be advantageous.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement, production data, SPC, OEE or ERP/MRP systems would also be beneficial, but training can be provided for the right candidate.
The Opportunity

There is plenty of scope to make improvements and see the results of your work directly on the shop floor.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Operations Manager and production team, with the opportunity to develop the role as the company’s manufacturing systems and processes continue to improve.
