Manufacturing Quality Engineer

Portsmouth
Permanent - On site
£45,000 - £55,000

About the Role

Capgemini Engineering is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Quality Engineer to support one of our key clients at their Portsmouth facility. The successful candidate will lead the recovery of a critical build area currently facing a high rate of non-conformances and delays.

In this role, you will be responsible for driving quality excellence, restoring process discipline, and coaching our clients’ engineering and production teams on effective quality management processes and recovery planning. This is a hands-on, high-impact consultancy position suited to someone who thrives in complex, high-reliability engineering environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the quality recovery of an underperforming build area, implementing corrective and preventive actions to address recurring non-conformances.
  • Ensure full compliance with client NC processes, including timely investigation, high-quality root-cause analysis, and robust documentation.
  • Coach and support client teams (Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality) to strengthen their understanding and execution of NC and quality processes. Work collaboratively with stakeholders to identify and resolve process gaps or weaknesses.
  • Analyse quality trends and metrics to identify systemic issues and drive improvements in NC cycle time, manufacturing yield, and process flow. Facilitate and lead problem-solving activities using recognised quality tools (e.g., 8D, Ishikawa, 5 Whys).
  • Act as a Quality / Manufacturing Engineering quality expert embedded within the clients’ environment. Validate adherence to build documentation, manufacturing standards, and configuration rules.
  • Provide Capgemini with regular updates on progress, risks, and opportunities for improvement.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
