Torbay Pharma Manufacturing Support Team Leader

Torbay Pharma are currently recruiting for a Manufacturing Support Team Leader to join our newly created Process Engineering and Optimisation team.

This is a full time and permanent role in which the successful candidate will be responsible for leading and developing a team of Technical Support Technicians who provide resource for large and small scale projects and escalations from Engineering, Manufacturing and Quality Assurance.

About the Role

Reporting into the Head of Process Engineering and Optimisation, the Technical Support Team Leader and their team provide quick reaction force (QFR)/triage technical support to Process Engineering, Capital projects and Manufacturing.

You will manage and develop your team, ensuring the continuous improvement of their skills and capabilities ready to support stakeholders across the business.

What you can expect in a Manufacturing Support Team Lead role at TP:

  • Health and Safety: No one comes to work to be injured and we make Health and Safety our number one priority.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for peers and stakeholders to manage real-time production disruptions or line stops, quickly resolving technical issues through own expertise or by coordinating suitable Technical Support resources.
  • Scheduling and deployment of Technical Support Technicians.
  • Giving due consideration to stakeholder needs and business deliverables, continually assess team competence and capability gaps through regular evaluations and technical skills assessments and the maintenance of skill matrices and KPIs.
  • Address competency gaps within the team via personal development plans.
  • Conduct regular reviews with each team member to ensure progress on plans and identify continuous development needs and gaps.
  • Initiate and complete training needs identified ensuring skill matrices are updated to reflect.
  • Establish KPIs for the support team to demonstrate progress / delivery, responsiveness, closure and escalation of tasks.
  • Embed lean practices and continuous improvement mindset into the core behaviours of the support team.
  • Foster and develop a technical problem-solving ability within team members, ensuring they are seen as examples of this mindset.

What are we looking for:

  • Technically credible, proactive people person – capable of leading a high performing support team while continuously developing its ability to meet evolving business needs and demands.
  • Demonstratable experience in leading and developing a technical team to achieve objectives.
  • Ability to manage multiple work packages / tasks and coordinate effectively with stakeholders.
  • Previous experience within manufacturing, ideally from a GMP environment.
  • Comfortable managing both routine support and complex escalations ensuring timely and effective resolution.
  • Skilled at coaching, mentoring, and performance management of team members.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to identify and rectify skill gaps, to continuously develop team members in becoming highly proficient.
  • Problem solving and incident management skills.
  • Resource and project coordination.
  • Capability building, with a continuous improvement mindset.
