Manufacturing Team Manager
Salary: £55,000 - £65,000 + Benefits
Location: Devon
A leading manufacturing client of ours is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Team Manager to lead operational performance across a key production area. This is an excellent opportunity for a people-focused leader with a passion for continuous improvement, operational excellence, and team development.
You will be responsible for managing production activities, ensuring customer demand is met safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you'll drive performance, improve processes, and develop a culture of accountability and engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and motivate a team of production employees and supervisors within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Deliver operational targets across safety, quality, productivity, cost, and delivery.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing methodologies.
- Support and develop high-performing teams through coaching, mentoring, and regular performance management.
- Ensure resources, equipment, and labour are effectively aligned to production requirements.
- Identify and implement process improvements to reduce waste and increase efficiency.
- Promote a strong health and safety culture, ensuring compliance with all site standards and procedures.
- Work collaboratively with engineering, quality, planning, and supply chain functions to deliver business objectives.
- Encourage employee engagement and foster a culture of ownership and accountability.
- Lead root cause analysis and problem-solving activities to resolve operational issues.

About You
We're looking for a proactive manufacturing leader who can balance operational delivery with the development of their team. You will ideally have:
- Previous experience in a Manufacturing Team Manager, Production Manager, Shift Manager, Operations Manager, or similar leadership role.
- Strong leadership experience within a manufacturing, engineering, aerospace, automotive, FMCG, or high-volume production environment.
- Proven track record of delivering improvements in productivity, quality, and operational performance.
- Experience implementing Lean Manufacturing or Operational Excellence initiatives.
- Strong coaching and people development skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making ability.
- Confidence working with KPIs, performance metrics, and continuous improvement frameworks.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
