Working for Suscom Industries
Suscom is a growing, family-owned business that manufactures office furniture components using injection moulding processes. Its production team works in a hands-on manufacturing environment, producing, inspecting and packaging components to meet required standards.
As an apprentice, you'll join a small team in a busy manufacturing environment, helping to manufacture, inspect and package office furniture components. You'll gain hands-on experience supporting the production process, carrying out visual and physical checks, trimming components where needed and packaging finished products to the required standards. You'll also learn how to keep production running smoothly, maintain a safe and organised workspace and work closely with your team.

- Starting salary of £25,000

Key Responsibilities
This is a physically active, hands-on role where you'll get involved in a variety of production tasks, including:
- Support the manufacture and packaging of office furniture components in an injection moulding environment
- Inspect finished components through visual and physical checks to ensure they meet quality standards
- Carry out flash trimming to remove excess material from products where required
- Complete hourly weight checks and record results
- Package finished products according to the required specifications and standards
- Learn to identify basic machine errors and report them to a supervisor
- Use equipment such as pallet trucks, milling machines and pillar drills when required
- Monitor and record scrap materials and report any production or quality issues to supervisors
- Maintain clean, tidy and organised work areas to support efficient production
- Follow company procedures, health and safety requirements and correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Carry out manual handling tasks, including lifting, moving and packing products and boxes
- Work independently and as part of a small team, supporting colleagues and other areas of the business when needed

About You
You thrive in fast-paced, hands-on environments and prefer staying active rather than working at a desk. You enjoy practical work, are comfortable working around machinery and take pride in seeing the results of your hard work. You're confident, proactive and willing to get stuck in, whether that's supporting production, handling materials or helping your team keep things running smoothly.
You follow instructions carefully and understand the importance of safety, quality and consistency. You have a good eye for detail, a strong work ethic and take pride in doing things properly. You're reliable, punctual and comfortable working shifts, including days or nights when required. You can stay focused during repetitive tasks and are happy with the physical nature of the role, including manual handling and spending long periods standing or sitting.
You learn best by watching and doing, building confidence through practical, hands-on experience. You're hardworking, motivated and passionate about doing a good job, with a positive attitude towards learning new skills. You're comfortable working independently but also enjoy being part of a small team, supporting colleagues and taking initiative when needed. Most importantly, you're keen to develop your technical skills and build a long-term career in manufacturing.

Apprenticeship Eligibility
To Apply For This Apprenticeship, You Must
- Be 18 or over
- Not be in full-time education
- Have lived in the UK for at least 3 years
- Have the right to work in the UK
Apprenticeships are designed to provide new knowledge, skills and behaviours, so applicants should not already hold a Level 3, degree or higher qualification in a closely related subject, or have significant experience in the same field.

So how does the apprenticeship work?
Start your career as a polymer manufacturing technician and gain hands-on experience supporting production in a modern manufacturing environment.
As part of this Level 3 Polymer Processing Technician apprenticeship, you’ll learn how to set up, run, and monitor polymer processing equipment, control materials and processes, and contribute to producing high-quality plastic and rubber products.

Over 22 months, you’ll combine day-to-day experience in your role with structured training delivered by expert tutors at Tiro. Our blended learning approach includes a mix of online sessions, in-person training, and hands-on support, alongside guidance from a dedicated mentor in the workplace.
You’ll spend at least 6 hours per week on off-the-job training, including virtual learning, practical activities, and applied assignments.

You’ll follow a structured programme combining live sessions, online learning, and hands-on workplace training to build your skills step by step.
What could your future look like?
This apprenticeship will help you build the skills and experience needed to start your career as a polymer manufacturing technician and progress within the manufacturing industry.
Through hands-on training, you’ll develop the competence and confidence to operate and optimise production processes, monitor performance, and respond to issues in real time. You’ll play a key role in maintaining quality, safety, and efficiency across manufacturing operations. This programme can also lead to professional recognition, such as becoming a Registered Science Technician (RSciTech).
You’ll gain experience that’s highly valued across a wide range of manufacturing and production roles, opening up opportunities to grow and specialise within polymer processing and related technical fields.
