Job Title: Manufacturing Technician II (Machine Operator / Setter)

Location: Basingstoke (Houndmills Industrial Estate)

Pay Rate: GBP13.46/hr + 20 Shift Allowance (Total Rate: GBP16.15/hr GBP33,500/yr equivalent)

Shift Pattern: Mon - Fri Rotating Shifts: 06:00 - 14:00 and 14:00 - 22:00 (40 hrs/week)

Contract Duration: 6-Month Contract (Overtime Available)

About The Role

We are recruiting a Manufacturing Technician II for a leading global business based in Basingstoke. In this hands-on role, you will be setting up, operating, and maintaining cutting, forming, and machining equipment to produce high-precision workpieces.

Key Responsibilities

  • Machine Setup and Operation: Set up, adjust, and operate cutting, forming, grinding, or CNC/manual machine tools.
  • Tooling and Alignment: Select, install, and align drills, cutters, dies, and holding devices using hand tools and measuring instruments.
  • Quality Inspection: Read technical blueprints/job orders and inspect workpieces using calipers, micrometers, and gauges to ensure strict dimensional accuracy.
  • Minor Maintenance: Perform routine machine care (oiling, cleaning, coolant top-ups, changing worn tools) and make minor mechanical/electrical adjustments.

Requirements

  • 5-7 years of experience in machine setting, operating, or mechanical production environments.
  • Basic ability to read blueprints and technical engineering drawings.
  • Proficient with precision measuring tools (verniers, micrometers, calipers).
  • Comfortable working alternating weekly shifts (06:00-14:00 / 14:00-22:00).
