Marine Compliance Manager
Are you an experienced compliance professional with a passion for marine safety and governance? We are seeking a Marine Compliance Manager to support Medway marine operations, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, driving continuous improvement, and promoting a strong safety culture across the business.
Your Role
In this role, you will lead marine compliance, assurance, and governance activities across Medway operations, ensuring adherence to statutory harbour authority duties, pilotage obligations, marine safety legislation, and the Port Marine Safety Code. You will maintain and continuously improve the Marine Safety Management System, oversee audits and compliance programmes, support risk assessment and incident management processes, and ensure licensing, training, and competence records remain accurate and up to date.
Working closely with marine leadership and operational teams, you will provide practical compliance guidance, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and promote a strong culture of safety, accountability, and operational excellence.
What you’ll bring
- Experience in marine compliance, safety management, auditing, assurance, or risk management within a port, harbour, maritime, logistics, or similarly regulated environment.
- Strong understanding of the Port Marine Safety Code, marine safety management systems, and harbour authority responsibilities.
- Ability to review risk assessments, incident reports, audit findings, corrective actions, and compliance records to support effective governance and continuous improvement.
- Analytical skills to identify trends and root causes, and recommend practical, proportionate solutions.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills to translate complex regulatory requirements into clear guidance.
- Ability to build effective working relationships and collaborate with operational teams, regulators, auditors, and external partners.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, sound judgment, and a commitment to maintaining professional standards.
