Role Description
The Marine Electrician role is a full-time, on-site position based in Birkenhead. The Marine Electrician will install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems and equipment on a range of marine vessels, ensuring safe and reliable operation. Daily tasks include:

- Reading and interpreting technical drawings and schematics
- Performing diagnostics on power distribution and control systems
- Carrying out scheduled preventative maintenance

The role involves working with shipboard electrical equipment, supporting refit projects, assisting with system upgrades, and adhering to all safety and regulatory standards. The Marine Electrician will collaborate with engineering teams, vessel crews, and supervisors to complete work on time and to specification.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Electrical Work and Electricity, with practical experience in installation, fault-finding, and maintenance.
- Hands-on experience working with Marine Electrical Equipment, including power distribution, control panels, and instrumentation.
- Knowledge of Power Generation systems on vessels, such as generators, switchboards, and emergency power systems.
- Experience or familiarity with Navy or defense-related marine environments and standards is an advantage.
- Relevant vocational qualification or apprenticeship in electrical engineering or marine electrics.
- Understanding of marine safety regulations and electrical compliance standards.
- Ability to work in shipyard and onboard environments, including confined spaces and at heights, following safe work practices.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Good communication skills and ability to document work performed and report technical issues clearly.
