Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Marine Engineer role based around London/Reading/Oxford. The Marine Engineer will conduct routine and reactive maintenance, fault diagnosis, and repair on a range of marine and canal-going vessels and equipment. Responsibilities include:

- Inspecting mechanical and electrical systems
- Performing preventative maintenance
- Ensuring all work complies with relevant maritime safety and regulatory standards
- Responding to breakdowns
- Supporting rescue operations
- Maintaining accurate service records
- Collaborating with operations staff and external partners to keep vessels safe and operational
- Contributing to continuous improvement of maintenance procedures
- Providing technical guidance to colleagues when required

Qualifications
- Background in the marine industry or maritime sector, including experience with canals, inland waterways, or related marine operations.
- Demonstrated marine engineering skills, with the ability to diagnose and repair mechanical, propulsion, electrical, and auxiliary systems.
- Experience with maintenance and repair practices for marine vessels, engines, and associated equipment.
- Relevant exposure to Navy or similar disciplined marine environments, with strong awareness of safety and operational procedures.
- Vocational or academic qualification in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Ability to work on-site in London, including occasional work outside standard hours in response to urgent incidents.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of applicable maritime safety regulations and good practice; appropriate professional certifications are an advantage.
