Role Description
The Marine Environmental Consultant will be a full-time, on-site team member based in Dunbar. This role involves conducting marine environmental assessments, supporting marine mammal mitigation projects, and providing technical advice to clients across a broad range of marine industries. - Preparing and reviewing reports
- Contributing to Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs)
- Ensuring environmental compliance on projects
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams

The consultant will:
- Analyze environmental data
- Participate in project planning and risk assessments
- Support the development of mitigation strategies aligned with OSC’s standards and regulatory requirements
- Engage in client communication
- Participate in fieldwork where required
- Contribute to research and development initiatives
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Environmental Science and marine ecology, with the ability to apply scientific principles to practical consulting projects;
- Experience in Environmental Impact Assessment and Environmental Consulting, including project scoping, data analysis, and preparation of technical documentation;
- Proficiency in Report Writing and communicating complex environmental information clearly to technical and non-technical audiences;
- Knowledge of logistics, Environmental Compliance, relevant marine regulations, and industry standards, with experience supporting clients in meeting regulatory obligations;
- Degree in Marine Science, Environmental Science, Ecology, or a related discipline; postgraduate qualification is advantageous;
- Experience working in marine or coastal environments, ideally with exposure to marine mammal mitigation or offshore industries;
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines;
- Effective teamwork and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work on-site and collaborate with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders;
- Competence with relevant software tools (e.g., GIS, data analysis packages) and willingness to engage in ongoing professional development;
- Good ethics, morals, and principles essential.
