About the role
We are seeking two experienced Marine Pipe Fitters to join a vessel construction and refit project. Applicants should have hands-on experience installing and fabricating pipework systems in shipbuilding, boatbuilding or marine repair environments.
Key responsibilities
- Measure, fabricate and install marine pipework systems, including fuel, seawater, bilge, fire main, hydraulic, exhaust and domestic services.
- Cut, bend, flange and assemble pipe runs using the appropriate materials and tools.
- Install valves, strainers, pipe supports, hangers and associated fittings.
- Fit exhaust systems, silencers and lagging while maintaining the required clearances.
- Work from piping diagrams, P&IDs and machinery arrangements.
- Pressure-test and flush systems, assist with inspections and rectify defects.
- Ensure dissimilar metals are isolated from aluminium structures where required to prevent galvanic corrosion.
- Follow site safety and quality procedures.

Essential requirements
- At least 3 years of pipe-fitting experience in shipbuilding, boatbuilding or marine repair.
- A relevant apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in pipe fitting or mechanical engineering.
- Ability to read piping schematics and prepare spool drawings or sketches.
- Experience using pipe-bending, cutting, threading and flange-assembly tools.

Working hours and conditions
The supplied job description specifies 10 hours per day, 5 days per week, with additional weekend work when required. The role involves physically demanding work in fabrication shops and aboard vessels, including confined spaces and overhead work.
