Marine Risk Consultant

Location: Inverness, Aberdeen, Perth or Glasgow

Contract Length: 12 months

Day Rate: Up to £700 per day, Inside IR35

Working Pattern: Office/onshore based with frequent UK travel

Travel: Regular short-notice port visits across the UK

The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Marine Risk Consultant to provide specialist marine safety expertise across our projects and marine operations.

Based primarily onshore/in the office, ideally from one of our four main locations — Inverness, Aberdeen, Perth or Glasgow — this is a highly mobile role requiring regular travel and short-notice visits to ports and project locations across the UK.

You will bring strong experience in the safe execution of marine survey and/or marine construction projects, with a proven understanding of marine risk management, project readiness and operational oversight.

Your expertise will support the review of marine project procedures and risk assessments, mobilisation readiness and the safe delivery of Contract Partner scopes.

What You'll Do

  • Provide specialist marine safety advice and support to project and marine teams, helping ensure the safe implementation of SSENT standards and expectations.
  • Build positive working relationships with internal project and marine teams, Contract Partners and other key stakeholders, both remotely and at project sites and ports.
  • Review Contract Partner documentation to support safe and timely vessel mobilisation, as well as ongoing operational performance.
  • Attend and actively contribute to Hazard Identification and Risk Assessments (HIRAs) and other risk reviews, providing marine safety expertise to identify hazards and reduce risk.
  • Support project and marine teams with procedure reviews, mobilisation readiness and project oversight.
  • Identify and report incidents, poor safety standards and unsafe behaviours across Contract Partner scopes to internal stakeholders, ensuring issues are addressed promptly and effectively.
  • Provide practical, credible and constructive challenge where required to maintain high standards of marine safety.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
