Team Overview
The Market Data team is a specialized data content and commercial management function that provides guidance and support in the acquisition, provisioning, and governance of financial data across the organization. The team's mandate is to ensure best-in-class practices in the management, maintenance, and delivery of market data services. Team members are expected to demonstrate strong subject matter expertise and financial market knowledge to support a diverse user base with a wide range of data requirements.
Role Overview
The role requires strong knowledge of Market Data operations, particularly within complex institutional investment environments. Commercial management responsibilities include challenging demand with both vendors and internal stakeholders to ensure effective budget management and maximize value from vendor relationships and contracts. The role will also support initiatives focused on product consolidation, rationalization, and optimization across the market data supply chain.
The successful candidate will build relationships with key stakeholders to understand business requirements, evaluate market data needs, and support strategic decision-making. The role also involves reviewing and negotiating commercial agreements in partnership with Procurement and Legal teams.
Key Workflows
- Global engagement with vendors in line with the organization's evolving business requirements
- Facilitation of BAU requests through effective demand management processes
- Contract management, including renewals, optimization, and rationalization of duplicate services
- Oversight of vendor reporting and usage declaration requirements
- Month-end processes, including inventory management and reconciliations
- Commercial oversight of subscription agreements and contractual obligations
- Representation of the Market Data function within strategic projects and initiatives where appropriate

Key Responsibilities
- Manage BAU processes for ordering data services, subscription requests, and approval workflows
- Support the contract renewal process through pipeline tracking and stakeholder engagement
- Act as a primary commercial contact and relationship manager for market data vendors
- Support service enablement and act as an escalation point for vendor and service-related issues
- Advise users and stakeholders on vendor policies, licensing restrictions, and data usage rights.
- Provide consultancy and guidance to business users and project teams regarding market data contracts and licensing considerations
- Monitor application and data usage to identify optimization opportunities
- Maintain inventory records and liaise with Procurement, Finance, and Operations teams regarding contracts and invoice administration
- Lead, mentor, and manage members of the Market Data team

Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven track record within Market Data, with strong experience in commercial management, vendor relationship management, contract negotiation, and compliance
- Strong understanding of institutional investment management and how market data supports investment, risk, research, and operational activities
- Experience working with market data vendors at both strategic and tactical levels, including Bloomberg, S&P Global, Moody's, Fitch, LSEG, MSCI, and other leading providers
- Experience driving vendor consolidation, cost optimization, and market data governance initiatives
- Awareness of the impact of AI on data delivery, data consumption, operational workflows, and corresponding licensing models
- Understanding of regulatory developments and their impact on market data usage, governance, and compliance
- Experience with market data inventory and management platforms such as TRG Screen, TRG Optimize, MDM, or similar solutions
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and relationship-building skills
- Prior team management or leadership experience
- Strong attention to detail and a flexible, solution-oriented approach
- Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines while managing multiple stakeholders and reporting requirements
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
