Who Are RECCo?

We are an independent, non-profit organisation responsible for the Retail Energy Code — a key part of how the GB retail energy market is regulated.

But we don’t just manage rules. We look ahead, not just react, helping the market change in the right way. We deliver secure digital services, clear governance, and practical solutions that protect consumers, support innovation, and help the energy system move towards net zero.

What you’ll be doing

The Market Design Administrator is a development role for someone interested in building a career in regulation, policy or governance, particularly within the energy sector. No previous experience of the energy industry is required. We are looking for someone who is curious, organised and keen to learn.

The role will provide administrative support to RECCo’s Market Design Team, which helps develop and improve the rules and arrangements that support Great Britain’s retail energy market. Alongside their day-to-day responsibilities, the successful candidate will have opportunities to learn how the energy market is governed, how industry rules are developed and changed, and how decisions are made.

The Market Design Administrator will help the team work effectively by coordinating meetings, maintaining records, preparing information, supporting reporting and assisting with engagement activities. They will also support meetings of RECCo’s Design Authority, which reviews and guides proposed improvements to the Retail Energy Code.

This role offers practical experience, structured development and exposure to a wide range of regulatory, policy and governance activities, providing a strong foundation for a future career in the energy sector.

This will include supporting across meeting management, team admin, engagement and reporting tasks.

Your Responsibilities

Meeting Management

  • Support the efficient running of Design Authority meetings, including collation, quality assurance and publication of meeting papers, general meeting support and preparation of decision material.
  • Organise regular and ad-hoc Design Authority and Market Design Team meetings as required from time-to-time.
  • Maintain a forward-schedule of meetings and proposed agenda items to support planning and coordination.
  • Maintain accurate logs of actions and decisions taken at meetings and ex-committee.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
