VisitScotland - Market Development Executive - China and East Asia

VisitScotland is Scotland’s National Tourism Organisation, and we’re proud to promote the wealth of incredible features our country has to offer. Our aim is to benefit Scotland by growing its tourism industry and giving it a renowned presence in the global marketplace.

VisitScotland is looking for a Market Development Executive - China and East Asia to join our Market and Business Development team on a permanent basis. This role will support in delivering a programme of key account management - tour operators, DMCs and OTAs, with the aim of increasing availability and visibility of bookable responsible tourism Scottish product in the assigned markets and ensure that Scotland is more widely promoted. The postholder will also work closely with our digital agency and OTA partner in China to ensure all digital content is aligned to our content calendar and enhances our travel trade activity, as well as pulling together reports for analysis by the Market Development Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS

What you must have

  • Fluency in Chinese (written [simplified Chinese], spoken [Mandarin]) and English (written and spoken) essential
  • Knowledge of the Chinese social media landscape and social channels for marketing communication and promotional activities
  • Good understanding of the travel trade and Scottish tourism landscape within the wider visitor economy
  • Good relationship management and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Cultural awareness, empathy and an understanding of working across assigned international markets
  • Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and a high degree of flexibility is required to address opportunities as they arise.
