Market Development Manager | Private Healthcare Organisation

Up to £75,000 + Bonus Scheme
Nationwide, Remote Working

Are you a commercially driven healthcare professional who knows how to build trusted clinical relationships and turn them into sustainable business growth?

We’re partnering with a leading independent specialist healthcare provider to appoint a Market Development Manager who will play a pivotal role in expanding its market presence and driving revenue growth across the UK.

Combining relationship-led business development with strategic planning and data-driven decision-making, this is an opportunity to take ownership of a national growth agenda, working closely with clinicians and internal stakeholders to develop new opportunities, strengthen referral networks and maximise commercial performance.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of specialist healthcare services, alongside the commercial acumen and interpersonal skills to engage credibly with senior clinical stakeholders.

The role

As Market Development Manager, you’ll be responsible for identifying, developing and converting commercial opportunities across a national network of specialist healthcare services. You’ll build lasting relationships with consultants and clinicians, develop targeted growth plans and ensure engagement activity delivers measurable results.

Working collaboratively with clinical, operational and marketing colleagues, you’ll have the autonomy to shape your territory strategy, prioritise opportunities and take ownership of performance against agreed growth targets.

Salary and benefits

  • Base salary: £65,000–£75,000, depending on experience.
  • Bonus: A standard bonus opportunity of 25% linked to KPIs, with potential for a discretionary bonus of up to 50%, subject to applicable criteria and business performance.
  • Annual leave: 25 days, plus one additional day and bank holidays.
  • Pension: Employer contribution of up to 6%.
  • Flexible working: Home-based, with autonomy over territory planning and scheduling.
  • Business expenses: Covered through the company expense arrangements.
  • Electric vehicle scheme: Optional discounted electric-car salary-sacrifice scheme.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Key responsibilities

  • Drive revenue and referral growth: Identify and convert new business opportunities, increase referral volumes and deliver sustainable growth across assigned services.
  • Develop clinical relationships: Build trusted partnerships with consultants, clinicians, GPs, nurses and other key healthcare stakeholders to strengthen engagement and service utilisation.
  • Expand commercial opportunities: Work with clinicians to explore opportunities to establish or relocate private practices within specialist treatment centres.
  • Own your growth strategy: Develop and execute an annual business development plan, setting priorities for territory activity, clinician engagement, conferences and associated budgets.
  • Use data to inform decisions: Analyse trading reports, referral trends and commercial performance to identify opportunities, monitor KPIs and optimise activity. Familiarity with Tableau or similar reporting tools would be advantageous.
  • Deliver measurable returns: Evaluate the effectiveness of engagement initiatives and ensure activity contributes to agreed revenue, referral and business growth objectives.
  • Monitor the market: Build a strong understanding of competitor activity, market developments and clinician needs to inform commercial strategy.
  • Collaborate for success: Work closely with clinical services, centre leadership, service development and marketing teams to deliver coordinated growth initiatives.
  • Report and forecast: Provide clear performance updates, commercial insights and forecasts to support business planning and decision-making.

About you

You’ll be a confident, engaging and commercially minded professional who can combine an understanding of clinical services with a proactive approach to business development.

You’ll ideally have:

  • A background in healthcare business development, market development, account management or high-value sales, preferably within private healthcare.
  • The credibility to engage with consultants, clinical leaders and other healthcare professionals, with an understanding of how specialist treatment services operate.
  • A track record of building productive relationships and translating them into tangible commercial outcomes.
  • Strong commercial awareness, including experience of developing growth plans, managing budgets and delivering against KPIs.
  • Confidence working with performance data, interpreting trends and using insights to shape activity and improve results.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and influencing skills, with the personality and confidence to host clinician engagement events and represent the business externally.
  • A collaborative and team-oriented approach, balanced with the initiative, discipline and resilience to manage a national territory independently.

An understanding of healthcare governance, compliance and referral processes would also be beneficial.

Candidates with a clinical background, such as a nurse who has transitioned into business development, may be particularly well suited to this opportunity. Equally, commercially experienced healthcare professionals with relevant specialist knowledge will be considered.

The working environment

This is a national, home-based position offering considerable flexibility and autonomy. You’ll plan your own territory activity, with regular travel to centres across the UK, meetings with clinicians and attendance at industry conferences and engagement events.

There’s no fixed daily office requirement. Instead, the emphasis is on managing your time effectively, being visible and accessible to key stakeholders, and delivering results.

You’ll join a collaborative team that values shared ideas, regular communication and working together to achieve common goals. The role also offers opportunities to attend international conferences and build relationships across the wider healthcare community.

Flexibility is important, as some clinician events take place in the evenings, with occasional Saturday strategy days.

Recommendation Scheme

Compass Associates operates a £500 referral scheme for each successful recommendation.
