What you'll do
The Market Intelligence team focuses on intelligence analysis across the Internet of Things (IoT) and Device‑to‑Device (D2D) ecosystem, with a strong emphasis on understanding new technologies, market dynamics, competitive landscapes, and threat environments. They synthesize technical, commercial, and geopolitical data to deliver actionable insights that advise product strategy, partnerships, and long‑term business decisions. The work requires translating sophisticated technical signals into clear intelligence that leadership and cross‑functional teams can act on. The chosen candidate will collaborate closely with a diverse group of professionals across engineering, product management, strategy, business development, cybersecurity, and government programs. They will also interact regularly with senior leadership and subject‑matter experts across both technical and non‑technical teams. This cross‑functional exposure ensures a deep understanding of how intelligence advises real business and operational decisions at Viasat. The intelligence produced by this team directly affects how Viasat prioritizes investments, mitigates risks, and positions itself in highly competitive and constantly evolving markets. Insights from this work help enable secure communications, resilient networks, and critically important connectivity for customers around the world. In many cases, the outcomes support emergency response, and global communications infrastructure. Being part of this team will give the chosen candidate exposure to innovative IoT and D2D technologies spanning commercial use cases. The role offers opportunities to build deep domain expertise, influence strategic decisions at a global scale, and regularly brief senior stakeholders. The chosen candidate will also develop strong analytical, research, and interpersonal skills while working on topics that directly compose future satcom connectivity solutions.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
