Purpose of the Role

You will find out what Glasdon needs to know about its markets, customers and competitors – and turn that into clear, practical insight that guides marketing, product and commercial decisions. Combining strong analytical skills with clear communication, you will gather and interpret information from a range of sources to identify opportunities, track market trends and support the Group’s continued growth.

Key Tasks

  • Market & Competitor Analysis: Research markets, competitors, products and pricing to identify trends, threats and opportunities across Glasdon’s sectors and territories.
  • Customer Insight: Design and carry out surveys, interviews, workshops and feedback studies to understand customer needs, behaviours and levels of satisfaction.
  • Data Collection & Analysis: Gather quantitative and qualitative data from internal systems, external databases and published sources, and analyse it to draw meaningful conclusions.
  • Reporting & Presentation: Produce clear reports, dashboards and presentations that translate findings into practical recommendations, and present these to colleagues and senior stakeholders to support decision-making.
  • Product & Campaign Support: Provide research to inform new product development, marketing campaigns and market-entry decisions.
  • Trend Monitoring: Keep abreast of industry developments, regulation and emerging trends relevant to environmental and safety products.
  • AI & Digital Tools: Make effective use of approved AI and digital tools to speed up data gathering, summarise sources and support analysis, applying sound judgement to check accuracy and protect confidential information.

Key Objectives

  • Deliver agreed research projects – market, competitor and customer studies – on schedule and to brief.
  • Provide accurate, well-evidenced insight that supports marketing and commercial decision-making.
  • Produce regular market and competitor reports within agreed deadlines.
  • Support new product and campaign development with relevant research findings.
  • Build and maintain reliable, well-organised sources of market and customer data.

Person Specification

Essential Skills & Attributes

  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret both qualitative and quantitative data and identify meaningful patterns.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present findings clearly and engage confidently with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • A strong eye for detail and accuracy, and good organisational skills to manage several projects to deadlines.
  • A proactive, can-do approach and a genuine willingness to learn and develop.
  • The curiosity to research complex subjects and present them as clear, engaging insight.

Desirable

  • Experience with research methods and survey tools (e.g. Qualtrics, SurveyMonkey), including interviews or workshops.
  • Experience of B2B research or working in a commercial or manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with data visualisation or reporting tools (e.g. Power BI, Google Analytics).
  • Confident use of Microsoft Excel for data analysis.
  • Confidence using AI tools to support research, analysis and reporting, alongside an awareness of their limitations.

Qualifications

Ideally a 2:1 degree in Marketing, Business, Economics, Statistics, Social Sciences or a related discipline – or equivalent research experience – and/or strong A-Level results in Maths/Science and/or English.

Working Hours

Full-time, permanent position.
Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm. (Flextime available)
30-minute lunch break.
Monthly pay in arrears (by the 28th of each month).
Please note, this position does not offer visa sponsorship.
