Market Risk Operations Analyst
Start Date: August 2026
Salary: £60,000 Per Annum equivalent / £320 Umbrella Day Rate
Location: Hybrid – 3 days in London office per week
About the Role
This is an exciting time to join this world-leading Energy company as it evolves from a traditional Oil & Gas enterprise into a future-focused Energy leader. This transformation includes the establishment of a highly successful new Power Trading desk within the Energy Trading team and ventures into cutting-edge solutions that address the evolving demands of the Energy sector. These initiatives include advanced Gas infrastructure, LNG technology, effective Energy Storage systems and Green Energy solutions.
Responsibilities
- Works closely with the other risk teams across the Trading and Supply business including a significant Business Operations component, regular discussions with Market Risk, Valuation, Front Office, Finance and Back Office, and a focal point for forward curve and pricing related queries from across the group.
- Ensures the smooth running of daily risk reporting activities on the appropriate applications and the various tools dependent on them.
- Maintains observable valuation inputs e.g., exchange prices, broker quotes, derivable volatilities and correlations to risk calculations.
- Analyses mark-to-market curves price movements to ensure trading systems are correct.
- Works on liquidity reserve calculations and ensures that it is correctly communicated to the desk.
- Delivers regular and ad hoc risk metrics and portfolio analytics for the commercial teams, risk management teams and various other stakeholders.
- Works under close supervision of Manager / Team Lead for all activities. Delivers the works as assigned, applying the work procedures, frameworks. Work is reviewed by more senior colleagues.
- Identifies shortcomings in current processes, systems and procedures within the assigned unit and suggests improvements. Analyses, proposes and (where possible) implements alternatives.
- Impacts the quality of parts of reports by delivering high quality analysis. Provides indirect advice which is further synthesized by senior colleagues.

Requirements
- Minimum of three years working experience within a trading, financial or risk management organization, which could have been gained in a Market Risk, Product Control or Trade Control roles.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Economics, Mathematics, Science, Engineering or IT
- Knowledge of financial, commodity and energy markets, derivative instruments, and hedging.
- Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills, such as pivot tables, lookups, queries, VBA macros.
- SQL and Python an advantage, other coding languages can also be useful.
- Experience with Endur or comparable energy trading risk management system.

- Positive attitude and ability to work within a large, globally dispersed project team in a multi-cultural environment.
- Self-starter, logical thinker and quick learner, with strong initiative and excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills, able to write clearly and concisely.
