Our client is a trader of Commodity and Energy products including, Gas, Power, LNG, Metals and Oil, based in Central London. They offer a unique chance to work within a growing and diversifying business, with a strong commercial appetite.

Working as part of the wider Commercial risk team, we are seeking a Trading systems and risk minded professional with experience in the wider commodity sector.

The role will offer broad exposure to the company systems and business flows, while starting to develop quantitative risk skills that will be used in future career progression, whether within Risk, IT or Front office.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Risk data management:

  • Ensure data in Risk systems are accurate, complete and accessible.
  • Act as SME and team operational contact for internal Risk system.

Risk Platform/System development:

  • Improve processes, systems and reporting from internal systems for Risk needs.
  • Support mountain system enhancements and integration.
  • Develop and support operationalisation of latest market technology for Risk department.
  • Actively work with IT to integrate processes to wider company IT infrastructure, with a global outlook.

Price Analysis:

  • Time series analysis of prices/volatilities/correlations.
  • Support annual Audit review of company price and valuation data.

Data handling:

  • Provide data extracts and data manipulation for Risk Team and stakeholders.
  • Develop collaborative relationship with key stakeholders across functions.

Risk reporting:

  • Actively support the daily running of company VAR process.
  • Develop support and enhancement of daily/weekly/monthly reporting of risk that the business carries, e.g. VAR suite, Stress testing, consolidated exposure/risk reports, liquidity and counterparty risk.
  • Support Commercial Risk on the running of quantitative models for the evaluation and input of complex structured deals.

EDUCATION, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Degree level education in a numerate subject.
  • Work based Commodities/Derivatives experience in trading organization, commodity exchange, commodity pricing firm, or similar.
  • VBA/Advanced Excel/Power BI.
  • Database (SQL) / coding / system knowledge and experience.
  • System management experience.
  • Proven quantitative and programmatic skills.

  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to think logically and problem solve is key.
  • Interest in commodities / traded markets / energy transition important.
  • Be a self-starter as well as a team player.
  • Willingness and ability to work and deliver on timelines.
  • Be diligent and dedicated to managing ad-hoc analysis and projects in a timely manner.
