About the Opportunity:
As a key member of the UK Packaged leadership team, the Market, Strategy & Planning Controller will shape and deliver the 3-year rolling route-to-market strategy, driving sustainable revenue, volume and value growth across a multi-channel customer base.
Partnering closely with the UKP Commercial Director, Marketing leadership and Business Unit Controllers, you’ll connect customer, channel, brand and operational strategies to deliver a compelling, insight-led customer proposition.
With leadership responsibility for Category, Revenue Growth Management (RGM) and Shopper Marketing, and a team of three direct reports, you’ll play a pivotal role in translating brand ambition into commercial success, developing your team and keeping the customer at the heart of everything we do.
Your Role Will Include:
- Shaping commercial strategy: Lead the annual and 3-year rolling route-to-market and channel strategies, setting a clear vision for MS&P, unlocking new customer opportunities and ensuring the function is embedded across UK Packaged.
- Driving profitable growth: Translate consumer, shopper, category and customer insights into compelling commercial propositions that accelerate revenue, volume, value and distribution growth, delivering the right P&L outcomes.
- Leading business planning and performance: Own the 3-year strategic planning process, coordinate 24-month budgeting and forecasting, and lead business reviews to track performance against ambition, identify opportunities and drive corrective action.
- Delivering commercial excellence: Lead Category, RGM and Shopper Marketing, ensuring effective PPPA strategies, proactive channel portfolio management, robust pricing and integrated, customer-specific omnichannel activation plans that deliver measurable ROI.
- Building high-performing teams: Develop and inspire an agile, high-performing MS&P team, fostering talent, collaboration and continuous development while setting clear expectations and a culture of exceeding goals.
- Connecting and influencing: Build strong strategic relationships with Brand Controllers, Commercial, Marketing, Supply Chain and Procurement, aligning priorities, challenging thinking and leading cross-functional initiatives to unlock customer and business value.
- Championing the customer and wider business: Keep customer needs at the heart of decision-making, represent UKP Route to Market at senior leadership and governance forums, and lead strategic projects that support long-term, sustainable growth.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
