More About The Role
Our fresh counters are a huge part of what makes Market Street special. From preparing primals to delivering customer cuts, our Butchers use skilled craft to serve up top-quality British meat for our local shoppers every day.
You’ll bring a proactive approach to the butcher’s counter - handling, cutting, and presenting meat to company specs, helping both in-store and online shoppers get exactly what they need for their meals.
In this role, you’ll be on hand to:
- Put customers first: Deliver outstanding, friendly service that highlights our fresh products, preparing custom cuts for in-store and online shoppers alike.
- Prepare quality cuts: Cut, bone, steak, dice, mince, season, and wrap meat primals to exact company specifications using specialist equipment.
- Maintain vibrant displays: Keep fresh meat counters and pre-packaged displays well-stocked, fresh, and attractive throughout the trading day.
- Keep operations safe and smooth: Work safely with specialist tools like knives, saws, and mincing machines, upholding strict health, safety, and hygiene standards.

Whether you’re a trained butcher, working behind a counter, or experienced in a professional kitchen, if you care about quality fresh food, we'd love to hear from you.
You'll be the kind of person who:
- Brings genuine knife and butchery skills: Experienced in cutting, boning, and preparing different meats to a high standard.
- Enjoys an active, hands-on role: Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and confident using butchery equipment safely.
- Loves helping people: Friendly, approachable, and always happy to use your initiative to support customers and answer product queries.
- Works flexibly with the team: Happy to lend a helping hand across other Market Street fresh counters to support store colleagues.
