Introduction

We are seeking a new Marketing and Communications specialist Trustee for Energy Sparks, a charity working towards a sustainable future in which the school community is at the heart of measurable action to tackle climate change. Energy Sparks equips children and young people with the knowledge, skills, and tools to take practical action in their school and wider community to reduce carbon emissions. Working with over 1000 schools nationwide we enable school leaders, staff and pupils to better understand and reduce their school’s energy consumption and introduce wider measures to reduce their carbon footprint. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference to climate change by supporting the delivery of data-driven learning opportunities to teach young people how to cut carbon emissions in their schools.

Principal Responsibilities for Marketing and Communications Trustee

As a Trustee, this role focuses on strategic oversight rather than operational delivery. The Marketing and Communications Trustee will not be involved in the day-to-day management of marketing activities, approval of individual campaigns or operational decision-making. They will:

  • Act as the Board's marketing and communications specialist, providing strategic oversight, constructive challenge and independent expertise to support the CEO and the Marketing and Communications Manager.
  • Support the development and protection of Energy Sparks' brand and reputation, strengthening its position as a leading provider of energy management behaviour change and climate education support for schools.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of marketing and communications through agreed performance indicators and provide strategic challenge where appropriate.
  • Keep abreast of developments in marketing, digital communications and the education, sustainability and charity sectors, bringing relevant insights and opportunities to the Board.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
