Marketing & Public Relations Manager

Reporting to: Director | Compensation: £45,000 to £60,000 depending on experience | On-site, Woodbury House, 29 Sackville Street, Mayfair, London, W1S 3DX

About Woodbury House

Woodbury House is seeking a Marketing & PR Manager to take full ownership of the gallery's marketing function. This role is responsible for the marketing strategy, the campaign calendar and, critically, the words: every press release, email campaign, web page and social post the gallery puts into the world.

Woodbury House is a contemporary art gallery based in Mayfair, London and Dubai, UAE, specialising in street art and graffiti art. Founded in 2014, the gallery has developed an international reputation for working with pioneering and historically significant artists from the street art movement. The gallery represents and works with internationally recognised artists including Blek le Rat, Richard Hambleton, Lee Quinones, DEFER, Gary Stranger, Torrick "TOXIC" Ablack and Swoon, while also curating exhibitions that explore the evolution of street art from its origins on the streets to its place within major collections, galleries and museums worldwide.

Operating from our flagship gallery in Mayfair, Woodbury House provides collectors with a highly personalised experience through exhibitions, private appointments, collector events and tailored acquisition guidance. Our marketing reflects that: considered, factual and curatorial, never hype.

The Role

This is a hands-on marketing leadership role. The successful candidate will define the marketing strategy with the Director, then personally execute the most important part of it, the writing, while directing the two specialists already in place for paid media and content production (video, photography and design).

The gallery runs a full exhibition programme, six or more shows a year, and each one launches on a calendar this role owns: announcement, invitation campaign, landing and RSVP pages, email sequences, social and press, through to the post-opening push. Between exhibitions, the role builds the gallery's ongoing presence: email marketing to a substantial collector database, blogs and editorial content that strengthen our search visibility, and social channels run to a consistent standard. This is a doing role with authority, not a directing role. The Director's involvement reduces to solely final sign-off on anything public. Everything else runs on the Marketing & PR Manager's judgement.

Key Responsibilities

1. Brand, Marketing Leadership & Strategy

  • Owning brand direction and consistency: whoever sees a Woodbury House ad, email or social post should know immediately that it is Woodbury House
  • Growing brand awareness as a deliberate, measured aim, not a by-product of campaigns
  • Owning the marketing strategy and the campaign calendar across the exhibition programme and the artist and collector campaigns between shows
  • Working closely with the Director to align marketing with the gallery's commercial priorities
  • Researching what other galleries are doing in the space and feeding that into the calendar
  • Reporting monthly on performance: email results, search movement, social performance and, above all, what generated collector enquiries and drove revenue

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

2. Copywriting, Content & PR

  • Writing all copy in the house voice: press releases, exhibition and artist texts, email campaigns, web pages, catalogue copy and social captions
  • Owning the gallery's press and features pipeline: writing the releases, building relationships with press contacts, and running features through to publication, with distribution supported by the gallery team
  • Directing and guiding content creation: bringing experienced input to briefs, shoot plans and interview questions ahead of each shoot, and providing senior direction on location where needed
  • Building a blog and editorial rhythm that strengthens the gallery's SEO and AEO visibility
  • Owning exhibition narratives and artist texts end-to-end, from first draft to finished, with the Director's review and sign-off as the only gate

3. Website Management

  • Managing the gallery website in WordPress: exhibition and artwork pages, landing pages and content upkeep
  • Building campaign landing and RSVP pages for each exhibition
  • Improving conversion across the site so paid media spend lands on pages that perform
  • Briefing the gallery's freelance web developer on build work beyond day-to-day content

4. Email Marketing & CRM

  • Planning and executing email campaigns end-to-end across HubSpot and Mailchimp: segmentation, HTML campaign builds, sends, testing and reporting
  • Building a between-shows email rhythm that warms collector relationships, not just launch announcements
  • Working within HubSpot CRM to ensure marketing activity connects cleanly to enquiries and the sales pipeline

5. Social Media & Community

  • Owning the social content calendar across the gallery's channels, run through a scheduling platform
  • Managing the community side to a consistent, professional standard, with support from the gallery team
  • Working with the content producer so film, photography and design land on the calendar, not around it

6. Working With the Team

  • Directing paid media and content production against the marketing calendar
  • Directing paid media beyond exhibitions: campaigns built around the gallery's available inventory and the artists we are actively looking to place
  • Working with the paid media manager on advertising creative ideas, built from the content producer's assets, so paid campaigns and organic social run as one story across every digital channel
  • Aligning campaigns with the Gallery Manager's exhibition delivery and the Sales Director's pipeline
  • Getting results through the team, not around it

The Marketing Environment at Woodbury House

Marketing at Woodbury House is very different from volume-led e-commerce or agency environments. We market historically significant artists to serious collectors, and the standard is set accordingly: factual, curatorial, and accessible writing; no hype, no invented narratives; and respect for the art history we trade in. This is a luxury consultative environment where credibility is the asset, and the words are how we protect it.

Working Pattern

This is an in-house role, five days a week at the gallery. The work is the gallery: the exhibitions, the artists, the collectors, and the team you will be directing are all here, and the first year of this role is about learning the business up close. Once the team is established and you are running the role at a fully competent level, working from home may be considered, but for the first twelve months at minimum, this is a five-day-a-week role in Mayfair.

Gallery hours:

  • Monday to Thursday: 10:00 to 18:00
  • Friday: 10:00 to 17:00
  • Private view evenings around exhibitions

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Proven copywriting ability, evidenced through a short written exercise at shortlist stage
  • Five or more years running marketing hands-on, not just managing it
  • Strong experience with WordPress website management
  • Email marketing experience including HTML campaign builds, we run both HubSpot and Mailchimp, so strong experience in at least one and comfort running both
  • Competent using HubSpot (CRM)
  • Social media and community management experience, including scheduling platforms
  • Experience reporting on email, SEO and social performance with proper tools
  • Strong organisational and operational discipline: the calendar runs without being chased
  • Collaborative leadership: able to manage and work alongside established specialists and senior colleagues

Beneficial

  • Experience in art, auction, luxury or culture-sector environments
  • SEO experience, and an interest in how AI answer engines are changing search
  • Experience directing designers or media buyers
  • Light design capability in Canva or AI design platforms, enough to produce quick social and ad variants without briefing a designer
  • Familiarity with AI drafting tools as an editor, not just a user

Prior experience in the art world is not essential. The artists and the systems can be taught to the right marketer. What matters most is the writing, the discipline to run a calendar unprompted, and the judgement to protect a brand built on credibility. We are looking for someone to make this their own, take pride in their work and build an amazing marketing team within Woodbury House to scale this brand forward.
