Marketing & Business Development Professional
We are looking for an enthusiastic Marketing & Business Development professional to support our international Financial Services Sector Group and Finance & Financial Regulation practice. Working closely with and reporting to the Business Development Manager for Financial Services and Finance & Financial Regulation, the successful candidate will help deliver the groups' business development and marketing priorities. The role offers a high level of autonomy across international projects and the opportunity to build strong relationships with partners, lawyers and MBD colleagues worldwide.
Within the BD Team we have implemented a 'pod system'. This means that members of the BD Team work in small groups to support our practices and sectors. This means that the successful candidate will be fully supported by an experienced BD Manager at all times, whilst also retaining a high level of autonomy to run with activities.
This is an exciting role for an ambitious MBD Executive looking to work in a dynamic law firm with an engaged group of fee earners looking to push onto the next level.
You will receive great on the job training and experience as part of our high functioning and experienced MBD team. You will be eligible for professional training courses offered by our external training partners and our internal Learning and Development team. You will work with stakeholders at all levels across our international firm. You will be part of a friendly and supportive Business Services team who will help to guide and support your career development. Key Responsibilities
You'll support the development and implementation of the international MBD plans for the international Financial Services Sector Group and Finance & Financial Regulation practice. The role spans sector and practice strategy, client development, pitches, campaigns, events, thought leadership, legal directories and the infrastructure needed to deliver these activities effectively. - Reputation and positioning: going to market in an effective and efficient manner
- Supporting the execution of the MBD plans for the Financial Services Sector Group and Finance & Financial Regulation practice, including cross-selling opportunities with relevant sector, practice and country teams, supported by client and market research, reporting and clear recommendations.
- Helping produce excellent and up-to-date marketing materials (e.g. brochures, flyers, social media posts etc).
- Coordinating regular newsletters, client round-ups and ad hoc alerts, working with lawyers and international MBD colleagues to source, edit and publish relevant content.
- Supporting digital marketing activity, including webpages, blogs, social media, videos, podcasts and online resources, and ensuring content remains current and aligned with the groups' priorities.
- Supporting pitches, bids, tenders and panel submissions, including drafting and editing content, gathering credentials, managing inputs and ensuring compliance with the firm's best-practice processes.
- Supporting the planning and delivery of client events, webinars, roundtables, seminars and networking functions, as well as the groups' participation in major industry conferences. This includes developing targeted invitation lists, coordinating communications and speakers, monitoring attendance and helping drive and record follow-up actions and return on investment.
- Coordinating legal directory and awards submissions for relevant Finance, Financial Regulation, Payments, FinTech, Emerging Markets and Restructuring & Insolvency categories, including matter collection, referee management, lawyer biographies, research interviews and communication of rankings and testimonials.
What You'll Bring
- Previous experience of working in a professional services environment and experience of dealing directly with partners and key stakeholders would be advantageous.
- Strong commercial awareness and an interest in the legal, regulatory and market issues affecting the financial services industry. Familiarity with areas such as payments, lending, digital assets, anti-money laundering, financial services regulation or finance transactions would be an advantage.
- Experience across the MBD spectrum, particularly pitches and panel submissions, campaigns, events, client development, legal directories and marketing communications.
- Strong writing skills, editing ability and proficiency in MS applications including Teams, Word, PowerPoint and Excel, experience with other platforms like OnePlace/Salesforce etc. would be a bonus.
- Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal, as well as excellent interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to learn and curiosity to experiment with AI and other digital tools to improve research, drafting, workflow and delivery, while applying appropriate judgement and quality control.
- An understanding of social media's benefits and application.
