About UCASU
University for the Creative Arts Students’ Union (UCASU) is an independent charity representing and supporting over 4,000 students across UCA’s campuses in Epsom, Farnham, Canterbury and Maidstone TV Studios.
Our vision is a creative community where every student belongs, guided by our values of Creativity, Connection and Community.
As we move into year two of our three-year strategy, we’re building on a sector-leading 10% increase in our National Student Survey score and the highest student election turnout in the Southern Region (29.6%).
Through our new community organising model, we’re deepening our work of going to students, listening to what matters to them and supporting them to connect, organise and create change.
About the role
The Marketing & Campaigns Manager plays a key role in amplifying student voices, strengthening community and communicating the impact of UCASU.
Working across campuses, you will lead UCASU’s marketing, communications and campaigns activity, ensuring students, staff and stakeholders understand the value, impact and opportunities created by the Students’ Union.
This role combines strategic planning, creative content development and campaign delivery with direct engagement with students, student leaders, Officers and stakeholders.
You will champion a community amplification approach, supporting students to tell their own stories and ensuring student voices remain at the heart of UCASU’s communications.
Working closely with Community Organisers, Sabbatical Officers, student representatives and University colleagues, you will build visibility and strengthen engagement, while creating opportunities for students to develop skills, showcase their creativity and contribute directly to UCASU’s communications.
Key areas of responsibility
You will:
- Lead the development and delivery of UCASU's communications, marketing and campaigns activity, in support of our Strategic Direction and Annual Operating Plan.
- Lead organisational campaigns and support student-led and Officer-led campaigns that reflect student priorities and drive positive change.
- Champion a community amplification approach, putting student voices, achievements, creativity and experiences at the heart of our channels.
- Engage directly with students through outreach, working with Community Organisers to gather stories, feedback and insight that reflect lived experience.
- Lead the creation, coordination and commissioning of accessible, inclusive written, visual and digital content that reflects UCASU's values.
- Develop live briefs, creative projects and portfolio-building opportunities for students, and curate their work with guidance and feedback to keep quality high.
- Lead the ongoing development of UCASU's brand, including templates and tools that help staff, Officers and student leaders communicate confidently.
- Build effective relationships with University colleagues and external partners, including UCA's Central Communications Team, to maximise reach and impact.
- Lead the management and development of UCASU's social media, website and email, exploring new channels and online communities.
- Monitor engagement and campaign data, and produce reports, dashboards and impact stories that inform decisions and show UCASU's value.
- Lead communications for Welcome, Move-In, Graduation and other key student milestones, and support major campaigns and events throughout the year.
- Recruit, manage and develop student content creators and volunteers, manage budgets, and contribute to a collaborative, multi-campus team culture.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
