Company Description:

For over 40 years, Help & Care has worked with people and communities to support them to live the lives they choose. Now, as we enter our new strategic period, we are seeking an enthusiastic and innovative Marketing & Communications Manager to lead and shape Help & Care’s marketing and communications function at a pivotal time for the organisation. The Marketing & Communications Manager role combines strategic leadership with hands-on delivery, ensuring Help & Care’s communications are effective, innovative and aligned with our organisational priorities.

Main Purpose of the Role

To lead on the delivery of Help & Care’s marketing and communications strategies, enhance organisation reputation, engage employee and support business objectives. The role ensures consistent messaging across all channels, strengthens brand identity, and fosters a connected and informed workforce.

Responsibilities

Strategy and Brand Management:

  • Develop and deliver a clear marketing strategy and annual marketing plan, aligned to Help & Care’s organisational objectives, income generation priorities and strategic goals.
  • Lead on brand positioning and consistency across all internal and external channels.
  • Develop creative ways to build brand awareness and market Help & Care’s services and mission to specific audiences.
  • Identify opportunities to promote services, strengthen Help & Care’s profile and support business development and income generation.
  • Lead on the creation, planning and distribution of high-quality marketing content across digital, print and other appropriate channels.
  • Use insight, and data driven audience understanding to shape marketing campaigns.
  • Monitor marketing trends and competitor activity to inform strategic decisions.
  • Ensure all marketing materials and activity comply with relevant legislation, regulatory requirements, Help & Care policy and good practice, including data protection, copyright and accessibility requirements.
  • Ensure all communications and marketing activity reflect Help & Care's commitment to equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility.

Digital Communications:

  • Oversee planning, execution and evaluation of campaigns to ensure measurable impact and return on investment.
  • Oversee digital marketing activity including website, social media, and content strategy, ensuring content is purposeful, engaging, and consistent with Help & Care’s brand guidelines.
  • Oversee both the public website and workforce intranet, ensuring they remain up to date, relevant, on brand and fit for the future.
  • Develop and monitor marketing and communications KPIs, producing regular reports on campaign performance, stakeholder engagement, brand awareness and digital reach.

Organisational Engagement:

  • Ensure alignment between internal and external communications, reinforcing Help & Care’s brand and narrative.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation to ensure effective internal communication and engagement, supporting consistent understanding of organisational priorities, activity and key messages.
  • Deliver effective communication plans to support business priorities, change programmes and transformation activity.
  • Support senior leaders, central services and operational teams to embed communications into business delivery.
  • Work closely with colleagues across services to understand their communications needs, audiences, priorities and objectives, translating these into effective marketing activity while balancing individual service requirements with wider organisational priorities and brand considerations.
  • Act as the organisation's communications adviser, providing guidance and support to senior leaders on communication, reputation management and stakeholder engagement.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with media contacts, partners, commissioners, funders and other key stakeholders to enhance organisational visibility and reputation.

Public Relations:

  • Oversee all PR and press contact to ensure Help & Care’s reputation remains strong.
  • Lead on the development of messaging, copy and content to support fundraising activities.
  • Support Help & Care’s communication response in the event of a crisis or significant incident, ensuring timely, clear and appropriate communications are provided to the relevant internal and external audiences.

Leadership, Resource & Budget Management:

  • Manage a small Marketing & Communications Team ensuring the effective use of resources to meet the needs of the organisation.
  • Lead, coach and develop Marketing & Communications Team members through regular supervision, performance management, objective setting and professional development.
  • Work alongside the Leadership Team to propose and set the annual communication’s budget, ensuring expenditure is managed and tracked.
  • Contribute to organisational planning and strategy development as a member of the relevant management forums.
  • Commission and manage external suppliers, freelances and agencies where required, ensuring quality, value and delivery against agreed objectives.

Conditions

  • There will be an assessment of competence to practice during induction and 4-month probation period.
  • The postholder will be expected to carry out other such duties as may be required by the Chief Executive, Leadership Team and Trustee Management Board which are consistent with the duties and responsibilities of the post.
  • The nature of the job will require travel across the locality for which expenses will be paid as set by the Trustee Management Board.
  • The working week is 30 hours per week during standard office hours as agreed with line manager.
  • The post holder will be required to have broadband to be able to work from home.
  • The other conditions of service and other current procedural agreements will be enclosed with the post-holders Contract of Employment.
