Marketing Consultant – Transformation Lead
Location: Solihull, UK – Hybrid
Start Date: ASAP
Day Rate: Competitive / Market Rate

Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Marketing Consultant – Transformation Lead to assess, redesign, and help evolve the marketing function for a leading property data and analytics business.
This is a hands-on transformation role focused on understanding how marketing currently operates, identifying gaps and opportunities, and designing a best-in-class Target Operating Model aligned to customer segments, sales objectives, pipeline growth, and revenue impact.
The successful candidate will work closely with the existing marketing team and senior leadership throughout the engagement to ensure knowledge continuity and a smooth transition.
Key Responsibilities
Marketing Diagnostic
- Conduct an independent, evidence-based assessment of the current marketing function.
- Review team structure, roles, responsibilities, processes, ownership, tooling, and measurement.
- Assess how Marketing collaborates with Sales, Product, and other business functions.
- Evaluate team culture, working relationships, and cross-functional effectiveness.
- Establish a baseline for channel and campaign performance across customer segments.
- Review current messaging, collateral, content, and campaign processes.
Target Operating Model
- Design a future-state marketing Target Operating Model (TOM).
- Recommend the appropriate organizational structure, roles, capabilities, and reporting lines.
- Identify capability gaps and opportunities for hiring, upskilling, or specialist support.
- Develop recommendations for marketing governance, processes, and ways of working.
- Define how government-facing, policy-related, and product-adjacent marketing should operate within the function.
Marketing Strategy & Customer Segmentation
- Realign marketing around core customer segments.
- Develop segment-specific messaging, propositions, channels, and campaigns.
- Build strong feedback loops between Marketing and Sales.
- Develop account-based and segment-led marketing approaches.
- Ensure marketing communications reflect the language and requirements of customers and regulators.

Marketing Operations & Technology
- Review the existing marketing technology ecosystem, including:
- CRM
- Marketing automation
- Website/CMS
- Event platforms
- Social media tools
- Recommend which tools should be retained, replaced, consolidated, or enhanced.
- Improve marketing processes and workflows to support scalable execution.
Measurement & Revenue Impact
- Establish a measurement framework focused on pipeline and revenue impact rather than vanity metrics.
- Define campaign objectives, KPIs, reporting processes, and measurement methodology.
- Improve lead capture, nurturing, qualification, and follow-through processes.
- Create greater visibility into marketing contribution to sales and revenue.
Planning, Content & Events
- Establish structured forward planning for:
- Campaigns
- Content
- Budget
- Events
- Thought leadership
- Recommend the appropriate capacity and specialist resources required to support the marketing strategy.
- Develop a clear and consistent content and social media narrative.
Team & Change Management
- Work collaboratively with the existing marketing team throughout the engagement.
- Ensure recommendations are practical and can be implemented effectively.
- Support knowledge transfer and a low-risk transition.
- Provide recommendations for culture, collaboration, and ways of working.
Engagement Structure
Phase 1 – Diagnostic
The first half of the engagement will focus on:
- Current team and capability assessment
- Marketing technology review
- Channel and campaign performance analysis
- Stakeholder interviews across Sales, Product, and business leadership
- Culture and cross-functional working assessment
- Messaging and collateral process review
Phase 2 – Target Operating Model
The second half will focus on:
- Future marketing organization design
- Role profiles and capability requirements
- Reporting lines and governance
- Budget and planning model
- Marketing technology recommendations
- Segment-aligned messaging and proposition framework
- Hiring and upskilling recommendations
- Culture and ways-of-working recommendations
Required Experience
Essential
- Proven experience diagnosing and redesigning marketing functions.
- Experience developing or implementing a Marketing Operating Model / Target Operating Model.
- Direct experience in Property, PropTech, or closely adjacent regulated B2B data and analytics sectors.
- Hands-on experience delivering marketing transformation rather than purely advisory or slide-based consulting.
- Strong stakeholder management and executive communication skills.
- Experience building pipeline and revenue-linked marketing measurement frameworks.
- Experience assessing team culture and cross-functional collaboration.
- Experience developing account-based and segment-led marketing strategies.
- Ability to work effectively alongside an existing marketing team during transformation.

Potential Permanent Opportunity
The initial engagement is temporary, but there is potential for the successful consultant to transition into a permanent role if the engagement demonstrates a strong fit for both the business and the individual.
